It is too cold!  Ten degrees -- in FAHRENHEIT -- is below freezing by the standards I know.  Generally, though, it is not especially cold here.  It snowed today and stuck to the ground immediately since it was well below freezing, but they wouldn't let us out of school early, the bastards (I'm a substitute teacher -- the only one who wanted to go home more than the kids did was me.)  I'm celebrating with a nice bottle of Beringer (hopefully not the whole bottle in one night, but we'll see).

That's...
...not cold! It's below freezing here, and the poor sods who commute to work every day (rather than just walk down the hallway ;-)) are scraping their windshields at 7am. Ha!

Baltimore, huh? I was there two summers ago. I rode a Harley through the mid-West with three Yanks and went to the Harley 100th birthday bash in Milwaukee. Great fun. We then lost two guys, and me and Big Chris rode back via Toronto (to see some of my relatives) and then I stayed a night at his house in the Baltimore area.

He doesn't live there now. His company posted him to Italy for three years. I'll go se him in the summer, probably. I bet it's very pleasant over there right now.

Cheers!

It's cold as a mother fucker today -- where's all this global warming we're supposed to be having?  Just kidding -- you know I'm against global climate change.  But seriously, it's 11 degrees fahrenheit right now in the suburb of Baltimore, Maryland where I live.  For several weeks before, it had been in the 50s and even 60s, an amazing and pleasant bout of weather.  On New Year's Eve at midnight, I stood outside on my front porch smoking a cigar and sipping a glass of red wine -- wearing just jeans and a sweat shirt; it was not cold at all.  The next day I was out there (another cigar and red wine in each of my hands respectively) wearing nothing but a t-shirt (and pants too, of course!).  Now we are getting our just desserts for all that wonderful weather.  Last night it was about 10 degrees with a windchill that made it feel even colder, so I chose a shorter cigar.  I could barely stand to finish it it was so cold.  Argh!  Oh well.  Cheers!

...you have a fascinating array of bad habits!

The new brand sound eminently better, both for you, your pocket, and the native peoples.

It's damn cold here, too, this morning. But we were warned!

Cheers!

The tobacco companies put those warnings on there because the government makes them (in the U.S. the warnings are less alarmist).  I have been trying to get used to American Spirit cigarettes, a brand made on Native American reservations, all tobacco with no additives.  I guess the lack of extra chemicals explains why they take longer to burn (so are more economical!).  But they don't taste as good; they lack that extra pizazz -- probably the lack of rat poison or whatever.  Oh well, I could get used to them.  I've cut back big time anyway; during the winter it's often too fucking cold outside to go smoke, so I usually just binge on unhealthy foods instead.

Thats all you have to do? I'm sure you could find some time in between to start a new corporation or become the leader of a developing country or something.... *wink*

...yesterday we went to view the house. We sat down and reviewed our finances last night. This morning, we put an offer in on the house. Fingers crossed!

As for hiring someone, that's out of the question for now - though a nice idea to store up for the future! Having said that, being married to T has created an awesome team - especially now she's been given a well-paid job as Marketing Manager for my publishers. Yay!

It was lovely of you to stop by.

Stop blogging about them ....yeah I know you are thinking aloud ... but just get cracking on something today. You need to make some kind of plan.
I tell you this... I have as many ideas and prospects going on here and so I can't tell you which to go for

...prepare to be surprised once again!

Tobacco as a plant, as a leaf, as a herb, IS a blessing! I use it often as part of shamanic offering. It's also excellent for transmitting prayers to Spirit.

The problem is it's been severely bastardised and compromised by the tobacco companies. Not only do they add some severely nasty chemicals - including saltpeter, an ingredient of dynamite, which is ONLY included to keep the cigarettes burning, so they sell more - but they also put dire warnings on the packs, such as SMOKING KILLS! This may be true but, from a shamanic perspective, the fact these words appear on the packet means the tobacco inside is imbued with the power of those words. Not a nice prayer to be sending up 20 times a day!!

So I have no problems with tobacco per se. It's what the likes of Philip Morris have done with it that I find difficult to accept.

Thanks for reading.

I think you should buy the house. It is, after all, a smoking deal. Also, you may need to sit down and make a list of the 3 most important jobs you need to be doing and begin to focus on only those, letting go of the others to whatever extent is possible.

Actually, if you are financially able, you need to hire someone to start doing the menial or lesser tasks, so you can give your attn to the more crucial issues. Good luck.

Twain also smoked 40 cigars a day; surely he considered tobacco a blessing, but we know what you think of tobacco...

I'm exhausted! Good luck with all of your projects.

Damon,
Phew! I'm tired just reading your thoughts. Yes, balance is essential at this time. Don't forget your connection with the land. And I do not mean investing in property!  Maintain a balance between your thoughts and meditation with nature. It has worked for you before, has it not? Then what needs to be done will fall into place.  red

...the currrent paradigm sucks. We both know that.

But we all have to turn a buck to get by. Unless you're the happy benefactor of inherited wealth, of course ;-)

And as Twain said - Buy land - they're not making it any more.

Cheers!

"I'm researching ways to buy non-productive land and get planning permission for it, and sell it on to a developer at a profit."  I'll give you two guesses as to what I am thinking about this right now.  Yes, it is indeed this: Damon Leigh intends to take non-productive land and sell it for a PROFIT?!  You're trying to mess with me, aren't you?  First you tell me you supported the 1991 Kuwait war and now you tell me you're about to make a profit by selling land to developers (a.k.a. greedy capitalist pigs).  You are nothing if not unpredictable.

...that would be a great idea - if it weren't for the fact that I've designated January as a 'dry' month!!

It'll have to be meditation instead!

Thanks for reading.
