You're very welcome, Kooka - it's nice to meet you, too.  Thank you for writing stuff that makes us all think about why we believe what we believe instead of just settling for the status quo :).

Moohahaha
Nice to meet you.
It is great to find such understanding Christians out there.
I, like Gomedome here, wish that more understood that it is not attacking that we are doing.
Thank you for reading me.

It's pretty cool, isn't it, when someone gets what one really means rather

than attacking based on presumption? If only there were more of it.

Have a good day :).

Wow Moohahaha -- that is it exactly
during my last stint on Blogit I actually explained the blog title but not quite as elequently as you have just done. But that is it exactly, there are people in this world (of any faith) that will stop at nothing to get their point across, quite often inflicting or perpetuating anything they please against others in furtherance of that end.

YW, Gomedome. It does indeed.

I actually do believe in Christ , but I don't feel the need to condemn those who don't. I'm a more contemplative rather than bible-thumpy type. Also, I very much agree with your assessment of Kooka in your post - I actually very much enjoy his posts and his honesty within his own beliefs. I think he has been attacked for those views alone by many who claim he is attacking them.

Also, having said I believe in Christ, I pretty much shudder when it comes to extreme, fundamentalist views. The other day I read the comment attacking your blog title here and it made me really sad. Why? Because I think your blog title makes a very valid point. There are extreme, fundamentalist views that have made the holders of such indeed shoot a non-believer for Jesus. I think your blog title captures such in a very clever and sadly reflective (of such views / actions, not you) way. Instead of making people such as the one who made the comment about your blog title being "disgusting" attack you for such, I truly wish it would make 'em stop and consider the true reasoning behind why you chose such a title. In doing the latter, the road towards respect might be a little more traveled.

Again, a really good post :).

Moohahaha -- thank you
yeah sometimes it does get out of control.

This is a very interesting and thought provoking post.
And I have to say, I find a lot more common respect here than I just did in The Lion's Den post about abortion. The comments section there is still making me feel ill and sad and all those unfortunate things.

Thanx justAcarpenter
It is hard making selections like this and they should be taken with a grain of salt. I was considering you as well as westwend but kooka as a selection had more controversy value. ha ha ha

Good Picks

Thank You
Although I am sure there are many here who do not agree with you about that. I am told too often that I must hate Christians because I talk very openly about the problems I see in their faith as well as certain aspects of faith in general.

So thank again. It is nice to have you back here and active. I honestly did miss your 'voice' here on Blogit.

Interesting
I'll have to check out the religion section more often

Klara, yeah, it seems that way, despite the intention and motive that
goes into the post.

Sassy...
Exactly.

I honestly think that discussions on Blogit pertaining to beliefs, Ari,
tend to reinforce the intolerance.

Its great that we all believe in something
and believing in different things is what makes us unique. I have respect for other people's beliefs and I hope that they respect mine.

I do for the most part, choose "no comment" Gome.
This is one of the few times I have commented on anything even remotely related to beliefs.

Exactly, Gome. The word tolerance is self defined.
Others can routinely think of themselves as tolerant, while still others may find them intolerant. It's such an abstract and individualistic type of self concept that it really honestly would for me, defy real definition.

KlaraRoberts -- abstention from comment is a form of tolerance
Then one has to conceed that the word tolerance is self defined.

Klara, by discussing certain issues, we hope to break down the walls that
cause those issues to exist; in this case, intolerance.

Gome...
Okay...

I'm a Baptist, Gome.
That in and of itself screams fundamentalism. I of course, read Ariala, and get along well with Kooka. I simply don't find anyone that tolerant of anyone else. That's the simple truth. The issues quickly become "hot" and then the intolerance quickly rears its head. I stay clear of the discussions on this, and I honestly don't share my own beliefs here regarding this. It's actually for me pointless the discussions on religion. If anyone is really truly "hyper tolerant" then why would they need to discuss tolerance? I just lose it with that thought each time.

Now you cheer up ...you hear.

Gome...
HEY!!! I do too...   :)

posted by SincerityAnna on January 12, 2005 at 8:19 AM | link to this | reply

Gome, this means a lot.

You know how to cheer a wounded soldier...

Now I have to work at how to handle not getting mad at intolerance...

For the record, it's only because I see my own sinfulness, inconsistencies and failures that I am able to remain tolerant of other people's shortcomings, whether in religion or in anything else.  Plus, I truly believe in God's love and that Jesus taught tolerance. Jesus's main problem wasn't with non-believers, it was with the religious people.  I can relate.

And I certainly will never base my friendships on whether someone is a Christian or not. Emailing is always open to you and anyone else.  Thanks, my friend.
