I think you are on the right track, Ciel
Each of us has many, many personalities; one to fit every occasion. Some are more useful than others, some know of the existence of some of the others, and some are completely hostile. The hologram image is a good one, for each personality often thinks it is the whole thing, often to the detriment of the rest.

Hmm, my mind is stretching here, but I wonder if
what the Taoist Water Method accomplishes is unification of all of these parts into a whole...before moving on. Because dissolving tends to take isolated parts and bring them back to the whole to operate fully with unimpeded energy flow.
