That's why I reckon it should have the same status as TV except in cases where blogs get out vital information

As you know I left
blogging for awhile to pursue other things ans would never suggest that anyone let blogging stand in the way of them achieving other things in their lifes. Blogging is like anything else it has a place and time and if there are more important things to be done then it can also be considered a priority. Nor should blogging be used as an excuse for someone not accomplishing the things they say they want to.

I fluctuate, Beach. I vary blogging with the writing, and my personal life
Some days I blog a lot, other days, hardly any. Today I only popped on and answered my comments, and then was off. I'm luckier than most, I have several machines and connections, and can "swivel between". LOL

I'm sorry Beachbelle. I'm writing my book here so I can't see what your
fuss is about. I can't relate to computer files the way I relate to blogs. I just can't get excited about computer files, or take them seriously, or even remember which one is which or WHERE the most recent version is unless I post my attempts to write--my essays--into blogs. I'm happy when somebody reads my stuff--it is a bonus to me and reminds me that I'm not the only one in the world who is trying to learn how to write--but I don't look at blogging as a NETWORK kind of thing. Except they say that you are better off if you network, still, I simply don't think of Blogit as being different from trying to learn how to write--getting practice at writing... Perhaps that is because I expect all of my writing to remain MINE and not belong to someone else once it is published.

Hello Beachbelle,
I could relate to this. I've been off writing. My posts have been minimal, but in the end I think having a finished novel will payoff far more than blogging. Financially? Well, I'm not quitting my day job either way. I hope they find that boy, sexual predators are nasty people. Take care

I have this writing schedule on my refrigerator. Sometimes I need a concrete thing to commit to. So I work on the novel five evenings two hours and Sunday most of the day. Blogging I sneek in at work or later at night shen I can't sleep, but am not sharp enough to really write. I find it loosens up my mind and fingers.
That image of the boy being carried off is going to haunt me too.

I believe it does, but like anything it should be done in moderation
now that I have unloaded that crap, I blog because I like to write and since I retired from a job where I was with people everyday, blogging gives me interaction and I can express my thoughts and opinions. I have wriiten and sold some articles recently and I am doing some humor material for a morning DJ at a local radio station.

Beach, I'm sure there's a way to write seriously and blog at the same time.
I've been trying to do that, and I have to admit, I've done a lot of editing by simply re-working excerpts and posting them...I think the problems begin when one tries to 'up' their standings by getting 'social' on blogit...that usually makes for bad writing and bleary eyes...

BB,
Blogging has replaced tv for me, I didn't watch that much of it but now I hardly watch it at all...but it also replaces my regular writing time as you know, so that's why I am cutting back.

Beachbelle,
Right now, I miss the amount of time I was spending on blogging. I'm sharing it more with my boyfriend and even when I am on it, I find it inhibiting to have someone else in the room when I write.
I see your point, you're a professional writer with specific plans and projects. I'm trying to gather my thoughts, work up my courage to the sticking point and find a niche for my writing.

BB, for a time there
all I did was Blog and then reality hit. Truthfully though, once I log on I tend to spend too much time here and then something does get neglected. I should read some, search some but most often I don't. I'd advise people though to cut back the Blogging time if it's cutting into things that are not getting done. It's a good place to practice, but at some point we have to actually write something to submit and that can't all be done here.

Blogging doesn't keep me away from anything I should be doing. It never has and it never will. I can understand the obsession, but I'm not its victim. I have a host of other distractions anyway.

for me, most of the time, it helps me. My brain is working because I have somewhere to write everyday, and get feedback. I also lose it somedays and hate everyone here because I do get caught up in the popularity contest
