- Go to So Someone Rubbishes Your Writing?
Zachary
No you are not a dope and why haven't you read everyone of my posts? ;-
Yes you sense something that I am making a change in my writing in some ways.
You know I often have people thinking they've offended me by disagreeing with something I write but like you I am curious to know what they don't like but I am not overly concerned. What concerns me is when aspersions are cast on my character.

Gosh, we were kind of on the same wavelength. Except your story has a different and more successful ending! As for the tsunami...I think I've yet to really comprehend the enormity of such a tragedy....

I haven't had the opportunity to read each and every post you've
ever made, but this one seems very unique again. Are you sending a message? Are you about to change? All of this is very interesting.
There was once a time when perceived negativity in response to something I'd written made me very, very, angry. Those days are completely gone. Through submissions alone, I have learned that my main objective is NOT to be loved for what I write, but to be as clear as possible so that what I have written WILL be understood by a majority of people who choose to read it. At this stage of the game, someone could quite literally write or tell me that what I've written is the suckiest piece of poop they've ever come across in their entire lives, to which my response would be, "Really? What was it about what you've read that made you feel that way? What sucks and poops about it? Was there even a single sentence you liked? Can you help me?" I think that THIS is where I have made my most significant change as a writer. That change was a monumental leap over a simple stride. I'm very thankful for whatever it is inside of myself that has finally allowed me to do it.
But enough of that bullshit!
The horrors of Earth's most recent bodily adjustments eclipse all of that. One day, if we can actually make it that far, when something like this happens, it will be the remainder of the world who will come in to assist, with no worries of political or monetary ramifications or consequences.
Again, this is a very interesting continued change in you. I worry you might be saying goodbye. I hope not. Tell me I'm a dope, will ya?

There is no need to wonder...go and find out. It would be different this time. I wondered and so I went to college part-time when I already had a good career and a baby to boot. It opened up many ideas and helped me expand my range of work plus I met like-minded people. Could be even better than the Blogit Top 10!

I was kicked out of college, a black stain upon my personal sense of honor that I still find it difficult to talk about. I'm not ashamed of it, but I'm not exactly proud of it either. I don't use it as a measuring stick of my worth as a man, but I'll always wonder...

I wish I knew the answer. I suppose I am saying that for me somehow my sense of self-belief overcame that. It wasn't bravado just the luck of knowing what I should do. Had I listened to them .....

There is a lot going on alright - some of it too big to ignore. And yet there is always so much going on. It's just that we hear less about some things

My 10th Grade English teacher had us sit and read while she typed... probably "blogged" her autobiography on our time. I asked for the pass card and went and practised my guitar. Now I can neither write nor play the guitar!

Thanks for that bit of insight
into your early life. I was horrible in high school. The sciences really messed me up. But I came around. You are right about compassion fatigue. I find that now when I am able to deal better with this disaster a lot of people don't want to talk about it - or do any more than they already have (if anything).

By all means, write! As for the many terrible things that are happening in this world, I know that there isn't a whole lot that I can directly do. I can give charity to those who have been devastated by the tsunami, and I can pray for those for whom I can't do a damn thing. I know that it's not much.

There are even more predictions
of eathquakes over in that area. I also heard a prediction that California will also have a huge earthquake this summer. I believe there will be more hurricane's this year among many other tragedies we have yet to see. 2005 is going to be a year to remember.

It's always the case, isn't it? What fires us up is very seldom what is paying us at the moment. Sigh. I have Carbonates to write about in depth today! LOL Where is my passion for this???? LOL

Beach and Roofpig, The National Institute of Oceanography is what I was
trying to think of. It seems like someone would have detected this but...my brother told me about a strike-slip fault at the Canary Islands which, when it goes, will create a tsunami that will take out the entire east coast of USA (bye bye blue states).

Beachbelle - Ever since I first heard about the tsunami disaster I have followed its every detail. It is like I have been obsessed with it. I have had to actually force myself to try to talk or write about something other than that. It isn't that I don't care, it is that I care too much.

The Indian Ocean nations don't have a tsunami warning system. Most of the countries are not wealthy unlike the main Pacific nations.

Thanks for posting this, Beach. I did want to know more about your past
academic life, as I had this image in my mind of you always being good at everything. Maybe you should go out and write about the tsunami. You have a great deal of passion and compassion for this cause, and that always, in my opinion, enhances our writing. Many of my best works were done when I was "feeling it" overwhelmingly in my gut.
