Yes I am sorry you saw the second post first. I would have loved to get your take on the experiment. Never mind.
It was interesting that some did not know how to take "my different voice". Yes I quite agree about the need for keeping one's best stuff off here.

Shoot. I went and read too much of this post before having read the one
below. Sorry about that, I've been away from my desk here for a few days. I definitely get your intention, though. I'm still working on my voices and styles. I figure, once (if there ever really does come a day) a very distinct writing style is formed from myself out of all the years of trying to express my internal voice, it will be very difficult for someone to pass it off as their own.
To be safe, I don't think any writer should display their absolute best writing anywhere on an open Internet unless it's something like poetry or some other true labor of love -- micro fiction, short-short, slice-of-life, vignette, etc. The rest of the writing should stay closed up or displayed in only the rough or first draft phases of whatever project is at hand.
Just my continued opinion on this subject. Thanks for making me think about it again.

I noticed a difference, but you've mentioned how you're experimenting with different styles. I assumed it was a new direction.

I cheated too. But seriously, I missed the post yesterday, as I was in
"recovery". LOL
I'll give you my thoughts now. I think I need to see enough of another writer, to immediately know and recognize their style. Without seeing his before, although it would seem "different" than your usual work, without having seen his work prior to this, I would not immediately say to myself, "that's not Beachie's work". Does this make sense? I need to have seen both writer's to make a comparison in my mind. In the cases you've highlighted in this post, one going from bad grammar to good would be a big tipoff, but comparing writers of similar talents is a lot harder.

We all deserve 50 whacks
with a big, soggy wet noodle. Its hard to always pay attention to all writers as there are so many of us. I have also noticed that even professional writers do tend to change their style. Who am I to question you? I never gave it a second thought, but I will now.

Huh. I never did notice that... I do try, when I quote someone else, to at least use marks or something to say, this isn't mine. I do find your observations interesting tho' -- and your style is very unique. I always feel as though I am having a chat face to face.

Funny thing Beach,
I read that post three times trying to figure out how to comment on it, since you didn't seem like yourself. It never occured to me, however, that it was someone elses writing, because in the short time that I've known you I have come to realize that you would never use someone else's writing in your blog without giving them credit. You are too much of a professional for that. So, I guess, my good sense was over-ridden by my personal knowledge of you. Interesting...

what had gotten into you. It did not sound like your work, but I thought maybe you were trying out something new. I was uncomfortable commenting about it...

Beach, after reading this post, I of course had to go
read the post in question. From my experience in reading your work, in comparison to the "other one", I see the same quality of thought provoking writing, however a see a large difference in the approach. You write more from a stand point of just putting the info out there and the other post came across to me as more of a "in your face" (that's not derogatory) approach. So that is where I see the difference.
I think on a forum like Blogit, we get used to the writing tone, style, word useage etc., of those that we read most often. With some, we could almost identify their work if it was presented nameless. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure if that is always a good thing.
