I do know what you mean. I often search for new and interesting additions here but don't find them often enough. I have to look elsewhere for that.

There have been suggestions made several times for a philosophy section or something similar. Maybe we need something like Theories and Ideas.

I like the idea of broadening one's reader base.  Once in awhile I will check out an unfamiliar blog and leave a comment, but usually I end up going in circles with the same few bloggers.  One of the daunting things is that there are just so many blogs and bloggers that one would have to spend all day every day in order to read them all and really give them a chance to sink in.  I really wish there were a category for Philosophy or Metaphysics or something of that nature.  I guess Religion and Spirituality addresses that somewhat, but I find a lot of blogs that address mundane everyday life situations that frankly get boring after awhile.  And not just in the Journal section, either.  That said, I have shared some pretty mundane stories myself, but they are interesting to me.   Oh well.  Well done post today.

Beach, one idea that was submitted to me
is that part of the proceeds from the blogger cookbook could be sent to Asia to help them. It's a thought.

You couldn't go wrong there. I think this case will test the reserves and skills of all concerned.

That was a great idea to give to that. Anything to boost morale is so important. Funny, I was commenting over at yours while you were here

Excellent ideas shared. I'll have to check out words post too.
I really appreciate the fact that you are inspiring others to help those in Asia who desperately need our help. Unfortunately, on the news this morning I heard about some person who has already started a scam to get money supposedly to contribute to them, but has in fact been pocketing all the money himself-seems there always has to be one bad apple, but at least he was busted before he got too much.
Hey, btw, did you want to contribute to the blogging cookbook? (see post in the "blogging zone")

Beach...
Done and done. I wish I had more to give. I gave quite a bit before the holidays to our servicemen in Iraq by way of paid for calling cards so they could call home during the holidays. This is another good one.

Great way to use Blogit, Beach, for a wonderful cause!
I made a donation to the Red Cross yesterday. Just always been an old favorite of mine, and I know they are already active in the assistance.

They all have operating costs but many are striving to reduce those costs. Yes it is worth weighing up which one to support. Sometimes people use the line about all the money not getting through as an excuse not to give. There will always be one or two bad apples who profit but by and large that is not the case. Every little helps.

... Came across something on the web today - it's amazing how many charities are out there.  Some of them do a better job as to how much of your money actually goes to the victims.  Something worth checking. Thank you for bringing out your pet duck.  I'm going to give something.  Even $10.00 multiplied by thousands of others donations is a lot... hey, it's how "Pastor Pete" buys his third home in Hawaii.

Even when times are not easy for you you are kind. In your shoes I would donate what you can't sell and hopefully a charity can make good use of the items.
But everyone goes through phases like you where it is tough to keep body and soul. There are many who can better afford to give and don't.

Re commenting - I think that is a healthy approach and as for venting yes that's a fair point but sometimes I do so too much

It varies a lot. In my case a few beat a hasty retreat to my Boggling Blogging post because they might find these posts heavy going.

I wish there were many more hours in the day to spend blogging and writing and reading! I agree about the disaster victims, it is incredibly sad.

Excellent post BB!

There are so many points here I can touch upon.

First of all, I'm thinking that maybe I can help those affected by the tsunami by sending things I have but no longer use--an old computer, clothes, stuffed animals for the children, etc.  I just need to do some research and find out how I can donate these items.  I wish I could do more, but I am so broke that I can barely feed myself, so donating my own items is the best I can do.

Secondly, about comments here on Blogit.  I try to comment to those people on my faves list as often as I can.  But in general I don't comment just for the sake of commenting.  I try to comment on those posts that move me somehow--be it funny, heartbreaking, etc.

Finally, about spending time here versus spending time on other projects.  I find that writing here helps to release pent-up energies--good or bad.  Then after I get all the extraneous stuff out of my head by posting on Blogit, I am better able to work on my other projects.

So many points to reply to, so little time!

BB,
First of all, I love your headline, I had to idea what to make of that. Secondly, I never taunt people, least of all YOU, hehe. Thirdly, interesting seque from topic to topic.

Would I sound too cynical if I asked where have all the commenters gone? Does the well run dry when more than a hearty pat on the back is requested? Tell me I'm jumping the gun.
