It was "never let the facts get in the way of a good story"
although that applies to cases when the headline is written first and the story follows. I used to work for an editor who did that and would get angry when we came back to the office with facts that did not support the headline he had dreamed up

Who said it?... "Never let the truth ruin a good story."

Loostening up a bit is usually a good idea...
fact checking is important...but story is fun...

You write well, whether creatively or as a reporter. We cannot believe the devastation that we have seen on the tv news from the tsunami. My boys are incredulous and constantly asking me questions I cannot answer.

It's interesting that you should say that. I always find the most compelling pieces to be ones where you can feel a connection with the writer. You have done that very well.

Your writing seems to be broadening in a lovely way.  I continue to enjoy your thought provoking prose.  Thank you for being here....

I'm supposed to be working,

but can not seem to stay on task today. I enjoyed your blog, the death toll is climbing and it is truly a tradegy.  The last major earthquake, was that in Iran last year?  Killed 20,000?  Sometimes, people are just like fleas on a shaking dog, makes me feel small.  Take care

I agree with Dave, Beachie. You bring a very specific human touch to all
your pieces. It's what I think I enjoy most about your writing.

Yes, it was the specific human angle that made it different.

I think one of the comments in your post said it best
something to the effect of bringing the human component into the story. You still shared facts, but you took the "clinical" side away from it and shared from your emotion, which can drive the facts home in a personal way.
Ya done good!

I agree...and your post yesterday was very well done, and interesting,
especially the part where you encountered that unexpected wave!  Scary!

Creative Non-Fiction
By far my favorite genre in which to write.  There are creative non-fiction websites out there and a journal on creative non-fiction.  If you're interested, drop me an email, and I can get you some info.
