I had never thought about it like this but I feel exactly the same way. Here's raising a glass to you.

DL - I disagree. When I talk "the future" I talk about dreams, goals, ambitions, etc. Without those, my "now" is meaningless. Why do I write? Not only because I enjoy the "now" sensation of creating, but because I have dreams, goals, etc. to become a professional writer. I think without that forward looking perception I wouldn't have the motivation to write as much as I do. I'm not saying it's MORE important than living in the "now," but that it's an important part that goes hand-in-hand with it.

If You Were...
...to ask me my opinion here - and i know you were thinking about it! - then i'd say your forward-looking mind sounds like a good thing, but is it really?
The future never comes, and your perception of the future has not yet come to pass. The past is dead and buried. The ONLY moment that truly exists is the Now. Staying truly in the Now makes living in the future (or past) seem like so much hard work for so little reward.
Man.
