Saul I just
re-read my comment and those of others here what I meant and I think you saw it was Sunnis and Shiites, I had a brain cramp at the time.

And a spade it is, poetkitty,
especially where Bush is concerned. Bush's ego and pride come before anything. And that includes America's best interests.

right you are, scoop,
there can be no legitimate elections where a good portion of the social fabric holds the election hostage, as do the Sunnis. They're in it now, but threaten to pull out, this after (for the longest time) screaming that the results would not be legitimate in their eyes anyway and they would not participate. But, to tell the truth, scoop, I don't even beleive that the world is buying this bullshit.

Fear of a Farse
It doesn't seem real to me, this election - more like smokescreen for the rest of the world to view, and for W. to say - SEE - we're doing good things here, people, it wasn't all for naught.
I'm not usually a pessimist - I just feel the need to call a spade a spade.

I think that the US is basically resigned itself to OK, here is your
elections, now make the best of it. There sre still some officials that are living in a fantasy world saying this is going to work but I believe most know that (1)-The elections will look good to the world BUT not every area will even hold them and (2)-I can't see how the Shiias and Shites will ever get along in a so-called democracy.
