whamenator  I remember dumpster diving for a friend in high school who put it in the lunch bag and feared going home without it. We did find it but it was smelly gross

It always amazed me the number of kids that threw their Retainers away

in the cafeteria or lost them!!!!!  I never lost mine once.

I was lucky to be younger, and kids today grow up faster, but if you want to take out your retainer to kiss, that is why they give you a carrier!

Just something else to look forward to!!!  LOL

Whamenator - Giving the privelege of having pretty teeth is a gift I gladly do - later on when she's not wearing them she will see the payoff

sassyass:  I wrote it down and it's posted on the refrigerator. This morning she was dressed, ate breakfast and books and body in the car at 7:30 in time - no reminding no yelling. Well one day down and many more to go...

It's just starting. Things will get much, much worse.

I had to wear headgear as a teenager too...........had 2 of them actually..

I had buck teeth before my parents bought me a beautiful smile.  I got braces when I was young, I may have only been around 11.

But I wore the shit out of those things on my days off of school, maybe 12 hours in a day while I hid inside and read, rather than the 4 I was required, and probably took months off the duration I had to wear them.

I am grateful that I got my teeth fixed when I was so young.  It would be so much more difficult to try to do it now, and what an asset a pretty smile is!

It is too bad your teenager cannot recognize what a privilege you are trying to give her.

I think that should work
Mom's advice works best when it's put into action. . .I think parents, as a rule, talk too much and don't follow through on what they say - sounds like you have a fabulous plan.

Sometimes tough love will work better.

I guess it will improve very soon.

It worked for me
When I am ready to go, I go. If the kids want to frig around then it will cost them. There is nothing strict about expecting a little bit of respect from your child. She will learn after the first few times that she is left behind as you are driving off. Good luck!
