I enjoyed the UK very much when I vacationed there for a few days in '99. Especially that our hotel -- the Princess Royale, I believe, which was less elegant than its name as I recall -- did not even offer nonsmoking rooms. I remember being pleased...whoops, I mean dismayed and outraged, of course...that the UK was behind the US in this regard. But the health warnings on cigarette packs were stronger and larger in the UK, even though the restrictions on public smoking were less, well, restrictive, which I found an odd dissonance. Anyhow, good to see you posting again in this blog. As I smoke my wonderful...I mean nasty, heinous, deadly...cigar on my porch, I will think of free market issues to introduce in debate here if you should be so inclined. Cheers...
