Thanks for your comments

I am certainly not asking for a theocracy; rather, as sarooster mentioned, an even keel would be just fine.  Thanks guys!  And Whammie, forward away.  Dear Al needs all the help he can get!

Well, I for one am going to forward this to Al Sharpton!

How sad that he is a household name!

Excellent post!  It just makes you shake your head...

This was a great piece. You raise points that we not
only all should ponder, but try to do something about. Yes, we can celebrate, in our schools, everything but Christianity for the most part it seems. That should be corrected and in general we need to do things on a more even keel regarding everyone.

Thanks Taps,
And I understand.  You slave over your own creations and then feel rather worn out to produce erudite comments towards everyone else's blog -- particularly if it's someone with whom you agree.  OK, well I admit, that's how I feel anyway.  But I appreciate your good wishes nonetheless.

JanesO - I hate to just keep repeating "good post" to people but it was
and I am not very creative in making comments especially when everyone else already said what I would have and concur in.

LOL, I figured it out.

Ooooops,
What I meant to say was that I concur the ACLU ranks right up there with the UN on corruption. My comment looked as if I was saying the ACLJ ranks up there with the UN and that is far, far from the truth.

Yes, Jay Sekulow does great work!

Guess I struck a chord

Thanks, Guys, for your feedback.  Unicorn, I too support the ACLJ and respect the work they're doing.  And I concur they rank right up there with the UN in terms of corruption.

Justso, I don't think anything you said offended David1.  He's in agreement with you -- at least regarding the communist component.

The ACLU is a joke and probably
one of the most corrupt "entities" out there, coming in second to the UN (in my opinion). That's why I am glad that there are groups such as the ACLJ (American Center for Law & Justice) that fight against the "crimes" of the ACLU. I have been a long time member and supporter of the ACLJ and have seen them do much more good than the ACLU ever could.

Justsouno
Please show me where I said I was "offended" by anything in this post or it's subsequent comments. I said I get turned off by some of the things they stand for, so I stopped supporting them monetarily.

Justouno

I found this on the web:
"....During the first years of existence, the Civil Liberties Bureau had a close relationship with the Communist Party, but by 1940 co-founder, Roger Baldwin, became disenchanted with it and removed the communist members from the board of the ACLU. The ACLU continues to have a reputation as being a leftist organization, but in fact, it defends people all along the ideological spectrum from ultra-conservative to ultra-liberal if it determines that their civil liberties are being infringed upon....."

David I am sorry. How did I do that? I will look where I saw this and get back to you but why would that offend you? If the truth would offend what would it take not to offend you?

Jane

Jane this sort of thing is going on everywhere. David I was under the impression that a communist fellow, who was sited for some illegal activity he was involved in, in the US, formed ACLU. . He could no longer practice whatever it was so he began ACLU. They are closely associated with the American Communist party. I will need to go back to my resource. But they had a communist foundation in the beginning.  Whether you are a believer or not anyone can see it is really biased and stupid to allow even Muslim children to wear their headgear and disallow crosses. It is all such a stench of Christian persecution in a country that took in any religion and gave them a right to worship as they chose and they stole our rights. I call them the Atrocious Communist Lunatics United

Why?
Because they are taking up issues which I feel are frivolous at best. And only seem to give them a reason to perpuate their own existence rather than have any "civil liberty" value. They started out as a honorable and neccessary entity, but now are so all over the place that I am not sure if even they know what they actually stand for. Much less myself.

Hey David1
Why'd you stop supporting them?  Just curious.

posted by JanesOpinion on December 8, 2004 at 8:52 PM | link to this | reply

I used to support the ACLU
I stopped long ago. Some of the things they stand for I cannot agree with any longer!
