Instead of I'm :-)

beachbelle, I generally refrain from cursing,

though, I often allude to the F-word.

It is just a darned good thing that SEX is not a swear word!  LOL

Nice work.

Would the following paraphrase of your On Writing communique be in keeping with your philosophy? - "Now class... "fucking" is NO excuse!"... Thanks Beachie teach, ...The kid in the back row.

i have cut back on the cursing....hope you noticed.

Ariala: it's an affectation. And I was also referring to those who use "f**k" or "f*****g". Read D.H. Lawrence for the proper use of the word.

dave Cryer... you mean being blogged about? Right?

There's only one thing worse than being talked about...

There will always be battles and disputes around here. It's one of the things that makes it interesting. Hopefully, no one get injured.

I think that to use "earthy" words sparingly is more effective and I agree, as I commented to Klara's post yesterday that if you want to say something, say it,.
However I am less keen on seeing "earthy" words in headlines as very often it is gratuitous. Context is the key

It's no big deal. I certainly take your point but it doesn't alter my opinion. Horse for courses

I meant, pronunciation

posted by Ariala on December 7, 2004 at 8:45 PM | link to this | reply

L.E. Grant...I use FACKING because it's funny to me...the pronounciation
makes me laugh.  It's not about anything more than that.

posted by Ariala on December 7, 2004 at 8:43 PM | link to this | reply

Personally, I try to avoid "earthy" expressions in writings.

But sometimes, the rude and crude helps to extirpate feelings. And I loathe circumlocutions or "hinty" type substitutes. If one means "fuck" or "fucking" then why the hell not use it? Although I do prefer to see such words in their proper context...

You're right, Beachie, and I have learned more of what you've alluded to
in other posts, but perhaps, hadn't experienced yet. I can honestly say that it was a positive experience in that regard.

For stating my views known I cop a lot more of the attitudes that I complain about but I don't care. What I am mindful off is that it gets tiresome for readers. As a reader I am sick of it. The best policy is to keep writing what one believes in

Thanks for your comment summing up the last several posts.

Belle

Thank you so much for expressing my feelings. I was unable to say what I wanted there was still a sticker from the burr under my sadle. This is what I came here for, writing to be read. I have some people I wait for their posts to appear. Be blessed.

I can top that, Beachie. As one moral policeman to the next, even I've
grown weary of it. And I haven't experienced any "skyrocketing" in the clicks or comments as some have suggested. In fact, I just announced back to business tomorrow, as honestly, my Xmas tree story last Saturday did better! I honestly went into it with pure motives, to keep Blogit a little nicer for all of us. I guess others see what they want, while still others see something else. Sigh. I am starting to come around to your way of thinking about "content" first, though, so that may be a plus in all this. Keep posting, I'm reading.

Good morning beachbelle

I have just been reading your previous posts on this page. I loved your post about the abandoned children who are adopted out into such wonderful  loving homes. I have a friend who has 2 such children and I have rarely seen a happier, more loving family. They are heart-warming to be around.

Congratulations on the prospect of a published book! I hope you can find the right people to interview....it is thought provoking to wonder what is considered "interseting' by the wider reading public. Do they like quiet achievers, or scandal? Or maybe a mix of both. Best wishes and good luck.

I agree with your point of view as regards using correct english when writing. I find it hard to read posts full of swearing and slang. I think the words just flow more beautifully when they are written beautifully. I have found several bloggers here whose beautiful and descriptive writing gives me great pleasure.

Have a happy day!

Another day, another post.

The rest is history.

Peace.

It's so weird.
I'm stopped caring about rankings. I don't even know what mine is.

I do love Blogits ranking system, however! It keeps us a very active, talkative, and vibrant community. I only need to venture out of here once or twice to notice the difference between here and other places.
