Thank you very much. I am touched by your comment. You know sometimes I still think of that idea you had. I have not forgotten. There is something there.

I was thrilled to see what you did for Wiley too. Good to have you back

BB, you know how much I adore you and your writing...
so, please let me know if there is anything I can help you with...not that I even think you will need MY assistance! You are more than well on your way to your goals! Just know that I recognize and appreciate them! Good luck, my friend!!

Thank you. Yes when I have sent sample chapters to agents in the past I only did so to one at a time. I don't know why I didn't this time. Perhaps it's because this time I made a very general inquiry asking two one sentence questions of 6-8 agents and was somewhat stunned to have two so interested. I honestly thought I might get someone say "come back to us when you have worked it out" or "not interested". I was trying to find out if there was no interest then I would have dropped the idea.

beachbelle . . .
Though it's a little late to say this, you should query only one agent at a time and wait for their response before contacting another.  At this point, I'd go with the one who has the best record of sales.

Knock em dead, Beachie. Actually, no, don't do that, otherwise they won't be able to sell it for you.

L.E.Gant
Thank you. If she gets the publishing deal for me i'll listen to her

Good on you!
But don't listen too much to agents - they have this idea that their writers might have their ideas stolen. Fact is, most non-fiction books usually come out in groups on a topic, so the chances are that your idea is already in the works - ideas are NOT copyrightable or patentable, just their expressions.

QuirkyAlone
Strangely it wasn't the nickel though I have could have pretended otherwise. That was something along the lines the agent said.
Yes it's true that everyone wants to talk about themselves, everyone except interesting people.

Hey, you have a new blog?

posted by Oceandancer on December 6, 2004 at 3:02 PM | link to this | reply

BB,

It shouldn't be hard to find people to interview...everyone knows that most people just LOVE to talk about themselves.

BTW, I totally believe this: in the collective consciousness people have the same idea at the same time.  Was this your "nickel in the cake" for this post, by chance?
