I feel like I am wrong more than I am right. Not sure if that will ever change

I kind of wondered why I was reading
what seemed like part of what I'd commented on before, but didn't give it another thought 'gnat like concentration' is so right.

'gnat-like concentration'
I'd take offence to that description if it weren't for the fact that you've hit the nail right on the head.

I've never been good at "popular",
I'm a misfit of sorts. A hypocrite? Yes, I am. It means more to realize I am wrong regularly than to have someone else point it out occassionally. Kelli would call this "epiphany", right? Take care Beachbelle

Original Influence
I think that is an excellent way of describing it. Just so long as we don't have meat and gravy all the time

beachbelle,
For me, content is the meat and popularity is the gravy.
I write for me, initially...others secondarily....so content is key!

complexities not contradictions.
Its not all that black and white. A lot of grey exists. We are only human after all.

Popularity equals catering to the lowest common denominator and feeding vulgar appetites. Or, popularity means that a piece fulfills a universal or common need. Two alternative views and probably both true at certain times. One derogatory and one more neutral or positive. That a piece of writing is popular doesn't necessarily that the writer has "sold out" for popularity if it comes from the heart and is true to the writer's beliefs.

BB, Today's content was well worth the read....
We know it's not possible to be brilliantly inspired all the time and so have excellent content. I'm happy if I can come up with something sensible say 90% of the time. It is said half the time that the top bloggers are popular because of catchy headlines and not too much content, however, I don't think my journal blog stays in the 10 ten becasue of that. If nothing else, I try not to make the click a total waste of the reader's time.
You would not be as read as much if your content didn't carry some weight.

That is true, Beach. There is an implication that "crap rises" here.
I see many posts on that myself, and that is a generalization being made sometimes by others. That doesn't mean it is true though, as that is only someone else's opinion. Generalizations are a part of life. You get read, and you get many thoughtful comments. I also get the same, so I use that as an indication that others like my work, no matter what other implications are made. Does that make any sense? It's hard to put this into writing here.

I don't "worry" either. I am saying content is my priority. I also think that to say I worry too much about popularity and/or content sometimes overlooks most of what I post about. I long for points that I make to be taken up but the people tend to latch on to anything that relates to blogging, well not blogging in a wider sense, but the tiny word of Blogit
I am mindful that I post to a writing category and so content and writing for various audiences comes up frequently. How can it not? But that does not mean I am pre-occupied with it.
I do get tired of the implication that if you do well here it is because crap rises. As I said that is one of the least pleasant aspects here/

Ah, but Beachie, that was part of another discussion, as I also posted that
in response to David1Spirit's remark that you seem to worry too much about popularity and/or content sometimes, as you post a lot about this. We all do "think" I believe about what we read and what we write. I don't know if many of us "worry" all that much.
