Vulture culture is spot on Dave Cryer
Though actually these people reveal how lacking in culture they are. Keep in mind that such behavior can be very subtle

That sounds fascinating. The novel I have started is linked to my travels. You see my plan is that I must return to that place. Unfortunately I will not be so literary as you

i know the seduction of wanting to travel write, although i thought through a novel for each one (there's the every one has a novel bit as well). although those ideas were as much inspired by stendhal, dostoevsky, sterne. so far only the sterne novel has been consigned to the devil. i might have actually had a useful idea from my tucsacy trip however, travel bood as dante's la vita nova. in dante's book he tells the story of how he fell in love with beatrice and then explains the poem that he wrote about each part. in mine i would wtrite my travel bit and then explain when, and principally, when not to induldge in the impulse to write a poem about the experience.

PS on Vulture Culture. Probably not newly coined, actually. Produced 4,730 hits on a search. Can't be bothered to check them all out to see if the phrase has been used in such a context before. Oh well, I won't be remembered for that then. Tis a bit obvious when you think about it. Got up too early today, I think. Must be the Vulture Culture making me hungry to get stuck into my own personal carrion. Dave will eat himself. Shut up now.

Vulture Culture ( a newly coined phrase inspired by Beachie)
Never considered such a Vulture Culture existing in the writing world before. Probably because I don't think like that myself. Jealousy does creep in at times, but never as extreme as you depict. Better beware then, those of us that make it into the vulture pit. Start spreading our wings, prancing around on tippy-claws, squawking and spiking out with our beaks. Hmm. Sounds familiar. Just like any place of work if you think about it.
Beachie, thanks for making me think about it.

I'm sorry for those feelings you have, or experiences even, I have lived a bit of that which you speak, as an insurance salesman years and years ago.
I can honestly say that was where my confreres were after my blood because of my abilities in insurance sales.
Eventually I just got out of it, went back to mechanics and selling machinery, maybe it's professions that are like that.
I admire and appreciate you Beachbelle, you are a very special girl.

I have to admit to being jealous of a friends success - She's a technical writer. Of course it was stupid because I wasn't even trying to write at the time. Hopefully I've matured a bit since then.

Good for you continuing to look forward. I'm sure that professional jealousy is not confined to creative circles, however I think to some extent to be creative or artistic requires a certain temperament...whether one is creative
because of their temperament
, or their temperament is dictated by their creativity. Either way...it is a more emotional occupation than say, a bank teller or an accountant...so therefore I guess one would expect more drama amongst those engaged in artistic pursuits. Does this make sense? I woke up so early this morning and now I'm starting to feel like I need to go back to bed!! LOL!

I fly beneath the radar, so I've yet to face the wrath of a fellow blogger. While I do not yearn for the day, it also means (strictly in this strange blogging world) I'm insignificant. The moment you are attacked is the moment you have arrived.
