Editors  usually shape articles to suit their taste.

I think that's probably the usual trend for writers - one yay for every five rejections.  Perhaps if the editor was to advise as to how they wanted it written instead of flatly rejecting it, people wouldn't get so disheartened/angry by it all.

Still, having something accepted word for word is a pretty grand achievement.  Well done!

My experience is either all the way good or all the way bad...

I have had one piece accepted word for word (yay!) and then the next five rejected outright.  I wish they were stopping to edit...

That's a good idea actually.  Plus, with a small, fluffy dog, I could just flush it down the pan when it's done breathing.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Chris, get a
dog. I've seen it work for all kinds of guys. Any kind of dog will do. Actually I take that back, the fluffy cute kind are the best. Girls flock to guys with dogs.

Well, that's the thing - just how low will we go just to get a slight ego boost?  Don't worry, I'm sure you don't come across as pathetic, that's just your harsh self-critic speaking.

Pity I didn't edit for you. If it wasn't funny I'd have sent it right back to you to rewrite.

I have had a few editors remove the color from my pieces and make them very dull. What I do about it depends on how pathetically grateful I am to have the piece in that publication.

I have a piece in a book published this month and the ending was changed and it makes me sound pathetic. If I had known that they would make that par the ending I would not have used it all. It will always bug me

With comments like that you have more than my back! You have my neverending adulation!

I didn't realise you got negative comments, Davey-boy, what with being so popular and all.  I'm not here that often so I'm not up to date with the workings of the Blogit mind.  Besides, I understand you, man.  Fridays:  Good.  Cheeseburgers:  Magnificent:  Super King Cigarettes:  Priceless.  Don't worry, I got your back, homeboy.

Thanks homeboy.  By the way, how much has it just cost me for you to say that?

Actually, I can understand why it would annoy you to have other people tell you how it should be, because they're wrong.  Especially something like poetry, which doesn't really have any rules.  Did I like the end product?  No, because I didn't like the start product too much.

I haven't submitted anything
Just posting it here on Blogit gets enough editing; in the form of negative comments from other bloggers. I am so misunderstood!

I haven't submitted anything to a "real" editor.
But I will say that when I've shared work with fellow poets and they sent my work back to me edited the way they felt it should sound, I hated it on principle! Plus it stunk. I'm sure in your case it was more than just a writer's sensitive feelings crushed. Did you end up liking the end product?
