Comments on Scene Two: Atheism Versus Christianity. . . My Opine Continued

I'm not offended by such discussions.
I have had to learn not to allow "Bible Thumpers" to rule the Christian day, as they can inspire irrational and anti-love behavior.  I have learned much from the clear expressions of Christ's teachings, and to find those who want to beat others over the brain with them is really defeating the whole purpose in my mind.  There are so many good Christians in the world.  It would be a shame to let a few of them turn off the whole concept.

Kooka,
I'm a bit leary when you talk about religions and choosing "what fits best." That was certainly not what I was attempting to get across.  My intentions and observations were quite the opposite.  I'm glad you like this post better, but at the same time, I wonder if you missed my brief discussion on how truth has become so relative, and how I disagreed with the smorgasbord approach to finding a religion.

these two posts of yours on this topic
are amazing. They are the most well thought out, intelligent and to the point blogs on this topic I've seen. You have hit on key explainations for believing the way Christians do, as well as the "great divide" between atheists and Christians in a clear cut manner. Very Very good posts.

Now this one was much better. The basic ideas you have here are at some level what I am trying to get across as well, but from the atheist stand point. Which each find what set of beliefs best fits us. There are times when various events make an impression on people that causes them to redefine their beliefs. Mysteria is a great example of that and I do not believe that any Christians is going to be able to get her to change her views. To me the most important thing is to understand that we are all going to have different views and accept that, that is where the tolerance needs to be.

Tapsel,
Do you mean to tell me that I cannot convert you by beating you over the head with my opinions?  Dang.  Here I was thinking all along that such a method would work. . . .

Janes - I do not at all mind admitting that I am closed-minded about
my religious beliefs.  If I did not believe what I believe it would not be my beliefs.   lol.   Anyway, I do not mind discussing what I believe or asking questions of someone else about their beliefs out of curiosity.  I think that people can share their beliefs without attack or prejudice.  I personally have never known anyone who was converted from one religion to another (or from an atheistic point of view to religion) by attacking or belittling or putting on the defensive of what they believe.  When a person is converted from their beliefs to something different, it is usually that they see in that something wonderful that is lacking in their lives that they would wish to be a part.
