Once Upon A Time...

...there was this couple who were blessed with a newborn baby girl.

However, the doctors gave no hope when it came to her quality of life--said that she would be a "vegetable" even if she ended up living for more than a few weeks.

They advised the couple to put this all behind them and go on with their lives, leaving their baby behind to be cared for until she eventually died.

But the couple said, "This is our baby girl, and we want to take her home and love her for whatever time we get to have with her--and even if she never recognizes us as her parents."

Back in 1980, that had that choice.

There are babies being born in the Netherlands today--born the same way that baby was 25 years ago (same problems/challenges)--and the doctors no longer give the parents a choice.

And it isn't even just keeping the baby there to be cared for.

It's ending the baby's earthly life in the same way that a prosecutor in Indiana wants to end the life of this guy who killed his mom and grandparents and buried them in the basement of his grandparents' house (with the mom and the grandma dismembered with a chainsaw)!  Why?  So he could steal their valuables, credit cards, etc.

I'm not in favor of the death-penalty, either, so this isn't saying that I agree with the prosecutor--but I do know that, if I believed in the death penalty, I can't think of anything much worse than this, and he would definitely be on my list to receive it!!!

I would even bring back the electric chair for him and kill him very slowly.  Perhaps, might even just use a chainsaw on him after I hit him with a hard object until he died the way this guy killed his grandpa (only I wouldn't hit him until he died, because I would want him to feel his very slow execution by chainsaw).

Anyway, I don't believe in the death penalty.

But it's ironic that two people could be put to death by lethal-injection:  One of them for the crime of being a man who acted like a monster and the other one for the crime of being a baby with severe spina-bifida and hydrocephalus.

Anyway, these loving parents got to take their little girl home with them to love for however long she would be with them.

And here's (part of) the rest of the story (to date, anyway):

Just So --
I hope we're able to step on the brakes before we go completely in that direction.  What an awful prospect.

Jane

Perhaps this appears to be unrelated but I don't think so. Their moral code is beneath the sewer, legal prostitution, legal gay marriage, and legal drug use. God addressed these situations in a couple of ways. 1) Sodom and Gomorrah 2) The Last Chapter of Judges I believe that is right it was about the Benjaminites and the Levite who allowed his concubine to be killed by the bands of homosexuals. Anything goes... Are we headed in that direction?
