Genes are Tricky
Your son sounds like a true athlete, but I am sure it will be a boost for his confidence to know that people also take notice of hard word in the halls of academia. I'm glad to see a father make a big deal out something other than sports.
Keep up the good work.

Canine,
Congrats! This is a reason to celebrate: your son learning that he can learn, be his own person, he'll carry that for the rest of his life, that and knowing how proud you are of him, it's the foundation of self-confidence.

in sympathy I am commenting in lower case. that is such a big deal and a credit to you for making him such a well-rounded individual.
this post strikes such a chord with me because my 10-year-old is an ace soccer goalkeeper too and that's his ambtion when he grows up plus he's newly-keen on surfing and is crazy about all sports. i know that he will be a good student too when something kicks in and your post gives me the heart to know i am right. please tell us about his reaction. tomorrow my boy is appearing in a school play and he is playing a sportstar.
