yup - we are the white trash of our heighborhood...
No wonder the neighbors are moving away. At least we don't have any old cars or appliances out there...LOL! I'm thinking of just planting a hedge around it next summer and pretending it doesn't exist...

ISN...
You could have this done in two days...one weekend!  You just have to commit, plan it a weel ahead.  call everyone you know and tell them not to bother you unless they want to help.  get your husband on board, if he doesn't want to...go ahead and pull out the secret weapon, you know what I'm talking about.  You can do this...I know you can.  Oh, you might want to give the kids to grandparents or something for those two days.  JUST DO IT!

Your translating ability is astounding! Stuffed up is the same as screwed up.....unless you're talking about a piece of paper, which you screw up....not stuff up. We have soccer mums and dads too......and rugby ones.....and ballet mums...eekkk...I'll be with a few of them this week as Saxon and Halle have their big ballet concert on the weekend and we have rehearsals a few nights. Gotta love those proud mums! Somebody's gotta love them......surely?

A swim meet, then...
not a pool party. Alas, I will not be moving just yet, as I am guessing wrong on some of these!! I think Swimming moms sound a lot like Soccer moms here in the states; insane women those! Oh, and the thought of getting something"stuffed up" is hilarious, though I think it might just mean "screwed up" . I wonder if I will ever tire of my new language? LOL, nah- I'm learning so much!!

A swimming carnival is a day where all the children compete in each swim stroke. (If they want to of course and so long as they can swim somewhat!) Halle is doing 25 metres freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly! They all look so cute lined up in their caps and goggles. The junior swimming carnival is for the children in grades 2, 3 and 4....so ages 7,8,9.

I am being a timekeeper on lane 3! I have NO idea how to work a stop watch....so I pity all the poor children in lane 3 who are going to have their times stuffed up! I just hope I don't get told off by a "Swimming Club Mother"....they are a species of their own! In fact....I bet I'll have a "Swimming Club Mother" story when I get home this afternoon. Don't worry, I won't post it in your comments section....I might actually make it a post!

suomynona-
LOL! Get out the paint, lady! hehehe, I hope that our tile gets done before we move, but I'm not putting any money on it! Is a swimming carnival a pool party? I am working on my Australian dictionary; I cannot set foot in my adopted homeland until I know at least how to say Pool party! :)

gypsy-
LOL, that is hilarous, I am so surprised that plan of attack for our house hasn't dawned on my husband! We live next door to a house that is beige on three sides and bright pink on the fourth. I do not know why, but i imagine the answer would re-ignite some dometic fights! Thanks for reading!

Hey ISN!
I am again sympathetic to your plight! Are you sure we are not distantly related? Your story brought back so many memories of our 'projects' on our home, some of which still are not finished, even though they are extremely simple to do. For example, we had a loose tile one rainy season and had a little water come through to the ceiling. It ended up leaving a mouldy mark which I intended to buy a little tub of ceiling paint and cover over. 2 years later, after having a shiny new kitchen installed, we had to get a plasterer in to put up the cornices (there is another story there....but I won't go into it....trying to keep this comment short). While he was there I asked him to plaster over the damaged spot for me which he did. He then said that it was all ready just to paint over now and it would be good as new.18 months later, our house is for sale and we have moved out. The plastered over spot is still not painted. Every single person who comes through the house seems to have a built in radar and their heads swivel upwards to that very spot. "What happened there?" they wonder....and once again I have to launch into my sorry tale of how it was simply a loose tile several years ago, and it has been plastered, and there has never been any other water come through, but that I have been sooo lazy (said with a rueful chuckle) that I keep on meaning to dab on some white paint, but haven't gotten around to it yet. They all look at each other and do mental eye rolls and disbelieving head shaking and walk out the door. This dab of paint is costing us thousands of dollars every month the house doesn't sell! Now...I really MUST go and do that today......oh wait....I can't....it's Halle's swimming carnival. Tomorrow!.........

Just be glad it's not like when my ex-hubby decided to paint the outside of our house. He did one side a summer. Took him 4 years just to paint the entire house once! By then he needed to start over on the first side lmao!!

isn, one thing i've learned about home improvement is that something always needs improving. as soon as one project is completed another will turn up. it never ends. enjoy the process.

I am a nightmare about projects- I want to do everything at once and forget we have three kids running around tile saw inhaling mortar. lol. I am eager to see the finished product, though (assuming there is a finished product)... thanks for reading!

It makes you feel good when the job is done, doesn't it?!

This house once looked close to Ma and Pa Kettle's home. We still have a good bit of work to do, but I think we improved this place an awful lot.
