When It Comes To How Our Mentally-Ill Are Treated...

...I'm in your Amen corner!!!

We need to get out of this punish/get even mindset that we're in now and start treating people with more compassion and understanding!

Blessings!

so then what is your solution?
Part of qualified treatment of the mentally ill is also the need to teach them personal and social responsibility. As you know, I have a "mental illness",(as well as counseling those that do), but that does not excuse me from being responsibile, nor does it justify it. When a mentally ill (I'm not talking about the criminally insane here), person is constantly allowed to get away with their inappropriate actions due to USING their mental illness as an excuse, all that does is reinforce the fact that they can get away with it because they'll always have that 'out'. Part of helping the mentally ill learn how to function in life, is letting them know there are consequences, to not do so is an injustice, and also takes away from their dignity.
