I suspect that
our little corner of the world owns more polar fleece then anywhere else in the world! LOL! No wonder I like to knit... :) I tell you what - when the drawer starts to overflow - I'll send some of our extra pens... on the QT since my husband hates to give up a pen for any reason... He's strange, but cute.

Well then...
my kingdom for a pen thief! :) It was -10 last night? Holy cold!! I am chilled just reading that. I insist you put warm fuzzy socks on both children and yourself immediately! And put a jacket on! Brrrrrr.

for once I do not have a problem you have...
why you ask? Because my husband is a pen "collector". He always comes home with pockets full of pens that he has picked up a various meetings. They are all shapes colors and sizes. It has gotten so bad that when we gathered all his ill gotten loot together we filled a dresser drawer full of them. I will be writng with a stolen pen until the day I die.....

suomynona-
hehehe, once again, a post hidden in my comment section! I must say I enjoy your comments- and it is ridiculous that I have tried to buy huge packages of pens too - to no avail! I am taking Alf's advice and sending myself to Oregon for some list making. hehe

I was going to blame the children.... but I guess the heat is a good excuse. Even though it is again ass cold today. Perhaps I could limit my pen usage to rainy or humid days. That ought to cut down on the number of checks I write. Accounts will fall in ruin, debt collectors will be here at all hours, my lists of things to do will be nonexistant... no, no, I can't handle that. I will move to the Northwest, it is the only way to preserve my precious To Do lists...

Once again I am wholeheartedly sympathetic to your gripe. We have exactly the same problem here...in fact..2 SECONDS before I blogged on a minute ago,I was frantically patting all the papers spread over my desk hoping for that telltale lump that signifies a pen is hiding somewhere under all the mess...I mean ....work. But no....I did find my stapler, calculator and that glass of Pepsi Max I lost the other day! I have actually been and bought those value packs of 50 pens and smugly placed bunches of them around the house, near the phone, in drawers etc. "We shall never be without a pen in this house again!" I proclaimed. I swear there is some little nocturnal animal which sneaks in at night and steals pens to build a nice plastic inky nest for its young....as the cries of "Where is a pen? My kingdom for a pen!" still continue to echo through the house...followed by frantic , exasperated cries of "I KNOW I put 20 of them in here!" as I burrow through old cards, school notes, photo's, rubber bands, staples and junk mail in vain. When I finally wield one in triumph, all it does is scratch the paper. Oh well....if I can find a lead pencil I can shade over the scratches and it will be legible! Now....where is a pencil? I KNOW I put 20 pencils here!...... Pen 2

ISN...here's the problem
You live in AZ. right?  That explains it...the majority of pens made are manufactured for use at sea level in a moderate climate.  The freaking sun is drying up your pens faster than you can use them.  As proof of this theory I offer the misc. pens in my house...all of them work even the ones that are 5 years old.  The moist air keeps the little ball well lubricated and with moderate temperatures...virtually no ink dryage.  I suggest you get a cigar humidor to keeps your pens in....

I understand completely

If you happen to have a gas stove this works too....when the kids aren't looking of course

sunnybeach7-
If I weren't positive that my children would light themselves on fire, I would buy a Bic. lol. Thank you for the tip, though; maybe once the kids leave home I can get a pen to work again.

Decoy Pens

A friend taught me a trick a while back. I guess never being a smoker and not having a lighter on hand I never learned this fine art of restoring the "writing" to pens.

If you take a lighter or even a candle and briefly put the tip of the pen in the flame and try to write with it, if there's ink in the pen there is a good chance you will get it to write again. If not the first time try a few times, just don't leave in the flame too long or you'll develope....ummm....problems.

Your other option is to buy a new pen and a safe to keep it in ;o)
