ekklesia
the word for church
greeks had lots of ekklesia and they weren't even christian.
means a gathering -- mainly they were the democratic bodies of the greek localities -- each freeman had a vote.

i would like to see a church called

The Congress of God's Freemen

equates more to the word, Ekklesia.

for some, that may be, but I was basing that on Scripture.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

The True "Church"
. . . may well also be the followers of any religion, consisting of any combination of gods and/or goddesses.

absolutely, a sense of humor is mandatory! I think I have a great one. I know it's not in the humor section. I don't consider myself a "religious" type, actually detest the word. I am however a radically saved Christian and Pastor.
The true meaning of church--in my Book (the Bible), is the body of believers. It's not a building or a place at all. It's not centered around a "minister" or a choir or any of the common place things you would find in a building used for worship. The true church is people; the followers of Christ.
Thanks for sharing your views also. :-)

OOPS!
I meant to write "truth," not "tuth"!  Sorry for the typo.  I wish we could edit our own comments . . . . .

Note, also, Unicorn . . . .
That this blog is not located in the humor section of blogs . . . .

Unicorn . . .

What I aim for is a combination of tuth (seriousness) and humor in what I write.  As a Pagan, the word "church" has a much broader meaning to me than it might to an adherent of one of the "inside-worshipping religions."

But, humor is an important aspect of life, and survival, in this modern world.  Many of our most creative comics had a very disturbing background, from which sprang their humor.  that is why I will never be a great humorist; my childhood and adult life have not been riddled with problems, at least not any that I have observed, yet!

a better idea might be to define what the true meaning
of "church" is.
I know these particular posts are based on humor rather than seriousness.
