From my experience, I do not know Dan Rather well but I got the pleasure to meet in at Baghdad International Airport last summer. And in overall, have a pretty good impression of him.

Hmm... You know, of all the people in the world, I just can't imagine thinking of either President Bush or Dan Rather as a failure! :)

Did you know that Dan Rather lied about his own military career?
He was in Marine corp boot camp for only four months when he could not handle the physical activity and was let go. But for a long time he bragged about being a marine. Back in the late 60's, 70's, he was a great investigative reporter but lost a lot of credibility with some bad stories.
