The derivations of words are a fascinating history of the changes in meanings that happen over time. Hell was just the place to put the trash, where the waste and garbage was hidden from view. I think it still is, like a nuclear waste dump, it is a place that needs to be far away from where we live and contained against any possible leaks for all time. Hell is the place where all the ideas, people and things should be put that carry negative connotations; thus by definition making us cleaner for the effort.

got eyes to see and ears to hear they do, but they're blind and deaf -- they've closed their eyes and stopped their ears -- they think they know all that is to be known -- the Apostle Paul says, "We know in part . . . ".
We've got to realize that we know very little and that we need to continually seek knowledge.
