Deemer, I understood and I enjoyed your comment which I paste in here
"Yes, I do have to write... but I NEED money and lust for popularity... the latter being a deadly sin...but I try to remember... "seek ye' first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be yours as well."  I don't think Jesus was a liar so I can relax in my creative process... there is great freedom in that... taking out my big ego.

Hyperbole has me misunderstood once again... I'm a writer, of course I want to be read.

Good post. I really believe the audience factor helps me write more
than I would without one.  By the way, I sent an article out today, thanks to you.

Be read as a lone voice

Like staying atop

Klara.
It is the big motivation. Occasionally I have been paid for work which has not appeared. I hate it when that happens - that the words are never read. A few months back I showed someone a story about a topic we were discussing. It had not appeared due to space constraints at the time. Although he was only looking at the information, he said it was the best intro he had ever read. He is someone who knows about stuff. Why am I saying it? Well, even though I only had one reader for that piece, it made all the difference to me that it was read and so well-regarded.
Thank you for your kind comment.

Great post, Beach, and I'm adoring this one!
Whether some will admit it or not, and whether they place a monetary value on the money or not, being read is a high that is unsurpassed by few others, at least by writers. What I consider the number one motivation of any that write.

Dancer. READ ME, READ ME. That is what it's all about. Pure and simple
Though diffetent people seek different audiences

Hmmm...

Scribbling in a notebook (as an adult) would definitely not be  the same as posting to a weblog.  Thank God for  modern technology!

Thanks for saying it, Bella.
I get all these people saying they write just for the writing. Seems wonderful and selfless and all, but...writing to be read! That's really what writing is, isn't it? To share your words with others.

Yes you are Sassy
Bur I am not sure it is easy. In most facets of life I am one of the crowd which I think is easy.

It comes easy for you
I remember you being popular when I first started 15 months ago. I enjoyed popularity in school, and I enjoy it with my hubby's family and mine. I have a few great readers in my fan base, but I am by no means popular on Blogit.

It is the last paragraph that says what I feel. I don't need friends, I have them. I don't need enemies I don't know what to do with them. I need to say, read not try to climb a ladder when I write better by letting what is in there surface.

Reading your post beachbelle, I wanted to jump up and shout YES! I write to be read too. Then I realised that until I found blogit I was never read, but I still wrote. Blogit simply gives me a focus for writing, in my prior life I just wrote... anything.

I have met one or to people who don't crave attentionally personally although they express creativity and gain attention through their work. The people who are quiet like that stand out because they don't crave it

I think every person has a need to create and for recognition. It depends on how much we are aware of it, and how hungry we are for it.

Yes I do it often on Blogit. Many posts are created in that way. Fun isn't it? I love the freedom.

Beachbelle, do you ever write to scratch the itch from having a thought and following it see where it leads?

posted by Blanche. on November 22, 2004 at 8:20 PM | link to this | reply

You definitely aren't one of those
who write oodles of stuff and then shut it away in a drawer.    That definitely wouldn't make me happy.  The wonder of Blogit for me - like everybody else, I guess - is the human element.

I also am craving
the attention of readers on tap, so to speak. It's a wondrful thing to press the post button and hopefully within a short amount of time see a comment that will make you mad, make you happy, make you laugh, or make you sad. It's a connection and the beginning of what can sometimes be a fantasic dialog.
