regarding the one true path
so many Christians claim that they teach the "one true path" that we end up with dozens of "true path"(s).
so how can your true path be better than the true path of other Christians who believe that your path is not the true path?

the anthropomorphic male figure is an idol
faith has nothing to do with worshipping an idol
"Thou shalt make no graven image . . . " (The anthropomorphic male figure is an image).
This is because the image gets in the way of perceiving the true god -- YHVH, or the LORD, which is used extensively in what is called the Ten Commandments -- why? because YHVH represents what I call "God as the Universe as an Organism", which cannot be perceived "eye has not seen . . . ".
Images such as this disappoint unless one is blind.

Westwend,

Actually I find atheists to be pragmatic realists who aren't afraid of much of anything. They tend to be strong people who can face their mortality without undue fear. Life is life and death is death, once it's finished it is over and done with is how most express themselves. My Swedish grandfather was a true atheist. Most atheists I've met have been confident of themselves and their abilities, and need no crutch to get them through their life and to face their ultimate demise. I'd be willing to state with much confidence that atheists have caused far less harm to the human race than the religious of this world. Until the more recent phenomenon of Communism and the atheistic governments this spawned most of the governments of the world throughout history were based in some sort of religious belief system, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or pagan.

Westwend and Sannhet,
There is an inherent paradox in discussing matters of faith, because it is just that: faith.  It may seem irrational to believe in an "anthropomorphic male idol" as you say, but faith is irrational.  The belief in one path to salvation through an act of self-sacrifice is irrational and though it offends the sensitivities of thoe who would prefer a more inclusive path, it is a belief that cannot be compromised.

Westwend -
I wish more Christians would do as you suggest. Unfortunately, for many, the fear of learning something different, something that might be true but doesn't fit their current reality, is just to overpowering. So they remain "behind the veil".
