you crack me up! Words I must find in Australia/English dictionary: Swimmers/reader/maths ... I love this stuff! You are right about letting them take responsibility, I need to learn to not get so "mommy" over things. :) Thanks for reading !

...you think Kindy is hard....just you wait till they hit high school!! If ONLY I could send my son with a brown paper bag with a letter on it....that's about my level I'm afraid I have decided after looking at his Year 9 maths homework! I DO sympathise with you though....that's an awful feeling when you just arrive home and it hits you like a kick in the stomach...Oh no...they had swimming today and she forgot her swimmers! Ooops....forgot the show-and-tell! It is a real battle to overcome the ache of despair all day, feeling so guilty and worried about your little one. However...one wise teacher told me one day when my first child was in grade 1 and I had showed up huffing and puffing after the bell on various occasions with left behind pencil cases, forgotten show and tell items, overdue library books etc. She said "I know you are a wonderful Mum...but you will be a much better one if you let the children realise that they must start to organise themselves and that you will not come running after them every time they forget something." I took this on board and thought it made a huge lot of sense....and for the most part I obey that rule even though the urge to disobey is so powerful I sometimes have to go out and have a coffee with a friend just to stop myself jumping in the car!! Now excuse me a moment...I just have to dash.....Halle forgot her reader this morning.....
