bb, please delete second posting, my computer, with all its crashings,
its  brains are scrambled and it tends to not show comments or post them, even when I hit refresh, to check on them.....and then I see that it has posted twice because I've gone back and forth between pages. I HATE MY COMPUTER and it knows it and acts accordingly.

Yes I love the connections too and I share your caution about putting other work on here. Mostly I just ramble on - kind of like a writer's warm-up

beachbelle, I am amused by the people who hate me for writing in the World

category and talking about my daily life, as though it were not of this world. When I arrived, I just added the word Grandma to each category heading and then wrote what seemed right to me at that moment and in that space, without concerns about whether I was correctly placed or not. It has been a burr in the hide of some and I apologize to them. But, I'm there now and have been for quite awhile and cannot see changing categories and losing some readers.

I follow your posts because they are blogthought provoking and necessary around here. It's why you have your avid readers and positioning. Most all of us agree on this. Continuous reading allows us to understand your words and not misinterpret them.

I have tried to make my News and Politics writing more specific to that category, so as not to irritate the hell out of the 'real' news writers. But, I personalize everything in my writing and might just be irritating some.

Funny, but I am tickled pink when I see my placement on Blogit, maybe I need the ego strokes. Dunno. But, I do not write for placement, I write what I write and then hit the post button. My comments section doesn't have tons of followers, but there must be some invisible readers who lift me up and I thank them all.

I think that we all came here to write first and then got caught up in positioning and earnings later. The pennies do not buy much, but they are fun to watch climb.

Hey, Bella.
Always good comments. I love Blogit for the connections we have we the people here, writers or no. I also know I can't put my professional work here cause it's often consider "published" out there. Hard to get a defining and clear line on that.

You do good work. I appreciate you.

Littlems. That is very much the case.

beachbelle...
it would be great if writing what you liked to write always linked itself with popularity...but it doesn't tend to does it?

Also, picking up on being misunderstood - I think it will always be that way with writing. An author may write to convey meaning about one topic and stress the importance of certain issues, yet the reader may pick up different nuances and not pick up on the author's message. Humour, is one genre that tends to be hit and miss in my opinion.

beachbelle ...I remember.
I hope you don't misunderstand me anymore

You know of course that I misunderstood you at the beginning. It was the same deal as with any misunderstandings, I wasn't reading you properly.

Temple.. ...that rankings side is like moving in ever-decreasing circles
but writing regularly has brought my writing out I think and I too have made some wonderful friends. Most have left now but we still correspond. In my heart of hearts I know I should take the energy I have put into here and apply it elsewhere.

Thank you. Sometimes it is difficult to gauge these things and possibly it is best not too

I think in any case, if we think too much about this place....
...it will make us bonkers.  Write what you will, for the reasons you will.  Read what you can, comment when you can (add ...when time allows for me right now to all of that) and don't worry too much about any of it.  I've made friends here that have become friends outside of here and expanded my writing skills, that's worth it.  It's not worth worrying about the little bit of change or the rank or the politics...and there is no way to please everyone, here or in life.  Putting too much emphasis on the things that go on here just isn't healthy.

Wordsmith, There is nothing wrong with self-advancement. We need it.
But I am with you in that it is not point to do so in unworthy ways. The victory is then hollow.

OK maybe no cereal boxes (unless they were cheerios - our cereal of choice) how about VCR manuals?

Beach-surprising the number of times I am misunderstood. I'm a good guy
really.  My mom always thought so.

i was busy yesterday and didn't have time to comment
but I suspected that you might be misunderstood over that post. It's happened to me too. Anyway, as I have said before, I love reading you and if you wrote cereal discriptions on blogit I would still read. ;-)

It's important to be able to write....

what I want, knowing that it's not what people prefer to read. I realize that many here are fascinated with hearing about the day to day details of others' lives.  Although I appreciate this, somehow I don't think people are interested in what I do daily, so I try to find interesting topics that will keep readers coming back. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When I am led to write silly posts - for rankings (I admit it, I   being in the top 10), I feel really silly.

All types of people and behaviors are here allright. I think that you would be one of the few who does not place significance on ranking and I applaud you for that and wish I were the same. However soon I will let all of that go as I will have to step away to concentrate on building up new projects. Your continued support is appreciated.

Beachbelle
I can not speak for one single person on here, except me. I am not trying to get to any rank, not trying to out-do anyone, be offensive or win the approval of anyone. There are good blogs that are not consistently good, there are posts that are confrontational and some writers who act and react in insecure, personal, outright beligerant to absolutely anything that differes with what they say or want the other to say. There is some real meanness on here. My appreciation for one's writing goes to zero when I see mean, jealous, childish behavoir. I shall read whom I choose and comment only on those I want and I am sorry I learned that here. I am here solely to try to write since I haven't in the past fifteen years. That simple.
