I went to school to be a psychologist...

And I interned at a clinic for schizophrenics and I realize that it is a very real and complicated issue.

The only thing I can tell you is not to anticipate a future of doom.  While it is likely that your symptoms will increase or become more pronounced, it isn't a fact yet.  I do believe sometimes doctors tell patients how bad it will be and it become a self fulfilling prophecy to a certain extent.

Love yourself, quirks and all, and remember that you are not a text book case and no one can tell you with certainty how it is going to be in the future.  Remember to live your life as Mike the person first, and then think about the schizophrenic part second.  There is more to you than this diagnosis.

I also believe it can be treated, quite successfully at that. I'm determined to have this be a major objective of mine. I refuse to let this go and develop into something worse because I didn't want to believe it.

Thank you
Thank you very much for sharing. I have a cousin who is schizophrenic and it is very hard to watch him struggle with the voices in his head. i believe that it is very real, but i also believe that there can be healing.

Hacker, I just caught up on all your recent posts. This is very interesting

and moving.  I have never doubted those with this condition, and other conditions.  I know how frustrating it is when people don't "get you," and even worse, when they don't believe you.

I have an idea of something you might try, just for an experiment.  Try going to a real hypnotist to see if they can hypnotize you into NOT hearing the voices and NOT seeing those delusions again.  It would be interesting to see how the power of the mind and suggestion would affect a psychosis illness.  I don't know if it's been tried, but if people can make themselves bleed under hypnosis, anything is possible.

Also, I would consult an eastern doctor of acupuncture to see if there are any methods they might suggest.

Okay, thanks for letting me give my two cents.

Enjoy your work!
