Good girl Whammie. I'd hate to lose a friend that way. I try to avoid stupidity at all cost, and that includes stupid cops! I have enough trouble keeping myself alive.

Hurray for Kelly
I would have been tempted to let her go, too. Your cop stories are so interesting.

My veteran partner was driving, and without saying a word to me,
he activated the overhead lights, did not even give me a chance to call out the stop and he was out of the car.
He was just going to tell Tyrone to turn his fucking music down, but I did not even know what the stop was for. Tyrone (Russell Robinson, actually) had a shitload of crack cocaine on him, and no driver's license, etc.
It was an example of a rookie's ignorance and a veteran's apathy because he thought it would be nothing.
I have armchair quarterbacked that situation a thousand times!

I've come close a few times. Goes with the K-9 thing first in and all of that. But never because of my own stupidity!

Canine, the time I came closest to being killed was one of those
"silent stops" that turned to complete shit in a second. I was still much of a rookie then. I never do things on the down low anymore as far as that kind of stuff goes, which is why I read so quickly and harshly into it!
I, too, would like to reinvent myself into the private sector, but I need to move laterally or upwards...no moving backwards!
Love,
Whammie

Canine....the lady cop made a grotesque tatical error!
One should always broadcast their location, so that other cars are automatically rolling in that direction.
I am at_____, and I will be out, checking (an audible alarm/a male/whatever). We always automatically check on each other unless we are tied up and unable to do so.
Shame on her! I'll bet she learned a valuable lesson.
It is easy to get nonchalant in our use of proper tactics though, because so much stuff is pure BS!
I am glad you were there, and that she will be all right.
Love,
Whammie
