We might rent it when it comes out on dvd. DH has seen several ads on tv, and they've got him intrigued.

I think the other reason kids are saying it's stupid is because (and this sounds cliche, but bear with me) they're desensitized to it. Think about it; they have these dumbass "reality" shows like Fear Factor where you're being locked in a box with cockroaches or being forced eat broken glass or silly shit like that. So when they see a movie like this which is obviously fake, all of the magic that used to make a horror movie scary seems lackluster.

Even though "Saw"
is considered a horror movie, it really is a movie that makes you think. I think I could understand why kids might be disappointed when they see it. It's not the slasher film it was promoted to be.
"The Grudge" is a supernatural, scare the pants off you, ghost movie.
I think the thing that really makes "Saw" so scary, is how real it seems. There are no monsters, no ghosts, no boogeymen...just a psychopath on the loose. It's more applicable to real life.
I left the theater repeating out loud, "oh my god..."

I want to see that movie!
I love psychological thrillers--the kind that leave you thinking and 'freaked out' for a few days. Someone said that the movie "The Grudge" was good, have you seen that? The previews seem a little to much for me, just looks down right wicked.

I still close my eyes and think about the images in this film.
It scared the shit out of me and you're right, it wasn't the slice'em dice'em flick it looked like from the previews.
They're already talking about a sequel and I'm not too happy about that. I think this movie is best left alone with the ending stuck in your brain as it is....which is pretty fucked up.
