Why does he not want to work and if he does not work he does need to see you need to eat and pay rent first! Talk to him. I am not good at the realtionship thing. Just my opinion

Hmm... I'd say, tell him you really love him and want him in your lives because he's so important to all of you, and then insist that he put those shoes and anything else he needs before any other priority. It sounds like he needs a little pampering.
