Don't let them sway you, Westwend.

Thanks for delineating the points of tyranny.  Several seem to be coming to pass already.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."  Edmund Burke (British statesman, 1729-1797).

We have to keep learning and fighting.  57 million to 52 million is not a sweeping majority; it is not a mandate from the people.  It is a win, yes, but that doesn't give the president the right to listen to only half of the country.  As a representative of all the people, he needs to consider all sides of issues and make impartial decisions.  I don't believe he has done that or will do that, but perhaps that is what we can pray for.  As for Hitler, people were amazed when he took power and began altering their lives.  Most didn't understand his agenda until it was too late.

Don't let up.

Hey Westwend,
the fat lady has sung. It's over pal, and OVER 57 MILLION PEOPLE DISAGREE WITH YOU. I think it is certainly the time now for you to look in the mirror and do some serious soul searching. I have an idea! Talk to God!  The most important issue to the voters was actually morality. And here you are spouting off some evolution junk and STILL claiming the Bush administration is the same as Stalin, Hitler or Sadam. You may need some professional help, pal. Have or did you ever live under a dictator? Have or did you ever live under the rule of Hitler, Stalin or Sadam? Of course, you did not. So to make a claim like this is senseless. I know you are a liberal but not even that is an excuse.

Amen to what aardvark just said, but I did vote for Kerry

It's for just this reason that I have a hard time voting democrat or republican. Both parties are controlled by elites. The powers of government in America have flooded the banks that the Constitution outlined, so the country is more susceptible to tyranny than many perceive.

carter and clinton

did not restrict anyone's rights

did not try to advance a personal agenda in violation of constitutional principles.

All bullshit, west
Be honest and tell me if you would feel the same way if Ralph Nader were president and his liberal ideologies were tha law of the land. You wouldn't hear any on the right crying "Tyranny". This was an election, BY THE PEOPLE. Tyranny, my ass.
I thought Liberals were supposed to be smart. All laws impose morality, genius. Murder is against the law. Why? It deprives someone of their life. Why is that wrong? THESE ARE QUESTIONS OF MORALITY. THE RULE OF LAW ITSELF IS AN IMPOSITION OF MORALITY. The Christian, Muslim, Jewish Right thinks it's sickening that we live in a country that thinks performing experiments on human embryos is fine, tearing unborn humans out of the womb is a right. All Americans accept the Dec. of Ind. and the Constitution. The Right does not exclude the unborn- the Left does. That's why we came out in droves. That's why Catholics voted against the so-called Catholic.
We don't care what people do in their bedrooms, we DO care if they want it blessed by society.

Evolution, that is Darwinian evolution, is largely debunked. If you're going to teach it, why not teach the biblical view? Let's remember it's all theory to some extent. You're not that old-you don't know how it all began.

Don't try to tell me for one minute you had these concerns when Carter or Clinton was president. Your hypocrisy is showing.
