Canine,
I think this is great idea. You can either start at the beginning of your career of just start with a really nice story about you and your dear friend. Just start. Type in the first words and keep going. After awhile you may decide that you actually started in the middle and that's OK because a first draft is for all that stuff.
I'm sure you will have readers - certainly all your friends on blogit will want to read it. good luck! :)

Serious with some humor,
start at the bottom rung of your career,
write about your constant faithful mutt,
other dogs can go into a specialized book on police dogs,
tentative title can be "Confessions of A K-9 Cop.",
include only non-classified, non-sensitive information,
don't worry as editor/publisher may re-title it later.
Tons of luck!

Alf gave you the best advice possible.
Don't tie yourself up in the "worrying stage". I see too many fall victim to this. Just jump in. If you do it wrong, you'll do it over. Better that than to "never do it at all". Also, like Alf, I'll read it!

Canine, as your loyal fan I will tell you what I think,
Every journey begins with a step, what was the first event in your life that ultimately led to your career? You could always start there. As far as the rest of the story, it will probably take on a life of its own as you write it. You have good instincts, I would trust you to insert humor when appropriate and know when to keep it serious as well. The thing to remember is that it is your story, you make the rules. The same goes for mentioning the other dogs. The art of writing is re-writing. Yes I think people will read it, I know I will for starters.
