Ah, yes, the big red ants! Their bite is very painful. I describe sitting on the ground where a buch of them were that I hadn't noticed in my "Gone Fishing in Isaan" story I posted recently. Those little bastards can bite! We had to cut down some mango and coconut trees last year when building the resaurant/shop. You should have seen the huge red ants that were living in these trees! They were everywhere, and a few people got bit while the work was going on. After a day they were all gone. Good riddance!

Yes, Thailand is big-bug country
There are probably bugs over there that haven't even been named yet. I have seen some really wicked-looking ones. And the ANTS are really nasty, especially the big ones that live in the fruit trees. They will swarm on you and sting you in an instant!

Great story. Very funny and well written! I've had my own midnight battles with the bugs while here in Thailand. I've even actually gotten my camera out to take a pic of one of the monsters that dusturbed my sleep. There was huge buzzing noise one night that woke me from my slumber. I thought at first that it was coming from outside the screened window over my headboard. It stopped, and I went back to sleep. This went on a couple more times. Whatever it was it was very loud. Finally I had enough and turned on the bedroom lamp by my head to see where the damned thing was. Once the light was on I saw it. There was a HUGE moth, the biggest I'd ever seen before, clinging to my silk curtains, just above my head on the pillow. It was a monster bug, and had these large black claws that it had hooked through the material of the curtain as it sat there just over my head! I grabbed my camera and took a pic of it, then, as this had woke my wife, we captured and released the damned thing out the screen door to my balconey.
Last night there was a cricket, or something, trilling half the night. It was EXTREMELY loud!! Sounded like a Katydid was trapped somewhere under my computer desk. I couldn't believe how loud it was! Thankfully it stopped later and I went to sleep. Its noise woke my wife from a sound sleep.
Thanks for the amusing story.

I am afraid you are right...
Especially if Kerry wins, the increased liberal attacks on religion and traditional morality will make my battle with the cockroach look tame indeed!

For anyone who may be wondering...
Yes, I really did have this battle with a cockroach last night. I couldn't sleep after it, so I thought I would try to turn it into a bit of conservative humor. After all, liberals make fun of conservatives all the time, so why shouldn't I return the favor? All in good fun, of course.

Justsouno...
So I amused you and offended you at the same time... perhaps there is hope for my pathetic humor, after all. But now you leave me to guess how I offended you... are you a animal rights advocate, a gay blade, an atheist, a liberal politician, or a pacifist? No matter-- I was trying to offend as many people as possible.

This is the funniest thing I really needed this. I am tiring of someone missing a chance to offend me. Lol Justsouno |
