don't trouble yourself with a part two
As part one reveals a fatal flaw in logic. The mere fact that the Bible has maintain linguistic continuity ( A fact conceeded by even the staunchest atheists) is a miracle in of itself. Yet, is such not to be expected of something that perports to be the word of God? I guess the proof is always in the pudding. LOL!

Here it's definitely "enquiring". Individuals enquire, groups inquire. Therefore, a policeman would "enquire", but the Police would hold an Inquiry. I can't speak for America, though (few can). Oddly enough, we've just had something on tv here called The Great British Spelling Test - quite a few American spellings were slipped in and I went and fell for one of them because I'm so used to seeing it on the net. I wasn't at all pleased about that because otherwise I'd have managed a perfect 50/50 (not bad considering the national average was a depressing 68%).

fantastic exercise!!!!
sheds light on a lot doesn't it?
when you consider that the Old Testament is a 5th C B.C.E. document rendered from at least 6 sources and documents dating back to about a millenium before
and then you consider that the most recent Greek text from which virtually of our tlranslations come is from circa 1600 (the Leningrad codex is older -- 1000 C.E., but KJV and other translations don't come from it) -- then you can get an idea that much of what we have cannot be true to the original.

Is it "enquiring" or "inquiring?" I've often wondered but never asked.

Exactly what it is meant to do! Keep asking those questions. The enquiring mind is a wonderful thing!

Yes, that's what I meant. We call it Chinese Whispers here. I am useless at it. I never hear it properly and the way we play it, we're not allowed to repeat it. Whenever I've played it, the final version has had nothing whatsoever to do with the original!

Witty, it's when you have a big group of people and you sit in a circle. One person starts by whispering something into the ear of the person next to him/her. Then that person has to repeat it to the next person. It goes all the way around and you can't repeat what you say, so if you don't hear it the first time, you have to make something up. The last person to get the message (the person on the other side of the one who started it) has to say out loud what he/she thinks it is.

I'm not familiar with "telephone", but I presume it's the same as Chinese Whispers? That's basically what caused the distortion of the message from the war. As the story goes, it went through several people before reaching its final destination and becoming totally altered en route.

But there IS no original! Not ONE WORD of the bible we have now is the original text. This has been established beyond doubt.

And the lesson must be, if you always rely on second hand, or third hand, or fourth through umpteenth generation knowledge, you are much less likely to understand the facts. The best source is the original.

It is already fact that the bible has been changed
I have often pointed out that Satan was titled used for angles who played 'the bad guy' for God in order to get the lesson across.
The Ten Commandments should really say 'Thou should not' instead of 'Thou Shalt not' given a the idea that there were meant to suggest what people should do instead of command them what to do.
Legitimately if you wanted to be really accurate, you should have fixed up each translation so that it made as much sense to you as possible and reflected what you wished it to say, since that is how real translation works.
Also, take note that in the Dutch it came out as 'The god is well'. I found that one to be very interesting.
All in all great point though.
