Something Like Bobby

Sassy--I know what you're describing, because it happened to this wonderful guy I know named Bobby.  He'd had prostrate cancer that had spread, and he had been barely-conscious for several weeks.

Then, he seemed to come to on February 13, 2002 and, for a few hours was very lucid and talkative.

But he passed on with his wife at his side on Valentine's Day.

With my dad, it was different.  It wasn't a case of him rallying for a couple of days but, instead, he'd been improving over a period of several months, and his vitals were getting better and better.

He had become so much stronger than he'd been that spring and was frustrated because he no longer was eligible for therapy when he knew--and we knew--that he could learn to walk again as well as eat by mouth for at least part of his food.

Therefore, his passing was very unexpected.

I'm sorry that you had to say goodbye to your dad when you were so young, and it makes me know how blessed I've been to have two parents around for so many years.

L--You're welcome!  Glad you enjoyed it!

Warm Fuzzies!
AJ

This is so sad
I know that it hurts, but I have noticed this common scenario of they start to thrive and then they pass on. My grandfather was dying from cancer, and then boom! He was feeling great. He died a couple of days later. My daughter and mother work in long term care and they have noticed that once they have a high peak from a lengthy illness, it seems that God has given them that one last special time with their loved ones. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad when I was 15. I still haven't gotten over it yet.
