Have you seen the 3rd edition rules? They've streamlined the rules and added new dimensions to combat. Now every race can be multi-classed. Once I got over the shock of having to relearn all these new rules, I realized it's better than it's ever been before.

I assumed Kooka played as well. His statements about god being "neutral" sounded familiar.

i've been both player and dm over the years.
I like creating worlds and scenarios
incorporating various mythologies and things from outside the D&D melieu.
oh yes -- I do have a fun chracter -- a lawful evil half-orc cleric/assasin that I have become attached to.
here's his name

Heougheough.

I was usually the DM, so that inhibited the role-playing experience. When I did have an opportunity to actually have a character of my own, I preferred noble fighters and paladins, the whole honorable knight in shining armor thing.

yeah it's fun -- brings people together too -- been a while since i've played -- played some fantasy games at Kooka's when he had friends over
i prefer "nature" characters, such as druids and rangers.

I was in the seventh grade when my folks bought me the boxed set. I introduced the game to my younger brother (who was still so young he would cry if his character died) and all my friends. I continued to play throughout high school, but I really didn't get it until I was in college. Over twenty years later, I've been a part of the game's evolution, have invested thousands of dollars on books, dice, modules, video games, etc. Every moment and every penny was worth it.

witchflower -- you've got to get the
books -- maybe there's still the basic introductory set.
then get severa lfriends -- you role play here -- create a character -- move through encounters with a goal in mind.
encounter adversaries.
deal with them.
it's excellent sociology

Dungeons and Dragons
I remember when people said it was evil and dangerous.  Made me want to try it, but somehow I never quite got it.  Maybe you could teach me sometime??
