Good post!
I appreciate the way you are sticking to your guns. In my opinion, fundamentalist Chrisitans do simplistic arithmetic and think it's the same thing as doing math. I wonder if they could stand to live in a world where 2 and 2 don't always equal 4.

And regarding your comment: "All I have to do is read the blogs of P.I.M.P. or Unicorn or demsareevil or steelerman61 to see that they want a country dominated by Christian (their brand) thought."

I can't see the logic of the above mentioned people as having anything to do with a love based religion.  We must not concentrate on the mythical or the wrong if we are to be in awe and reverence of God's creation.  All that is before us manifests the obvious truths of what God has done and for what purposes we have to praise him at all.

Well, I guess since I don't even go to church now, I can't be involved in the tyrrany.

I DON'T NEED TO SEE LATE NIGHT SHOWS
OR ANYTHING ELSE LIKE THAT TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON.
All I have to do is read the blogs of P.I.M.P. or Unicorn or demsareevil or steelerman61 to see that they want a country dominated by Christian (their brand) thought.
That's why I urge people to read them and be very afraid.
They have an agenda.
Steelerman says i am imagining that Christian Conservatives are plotting.
Say that to the school boards that got taken over -- or to members of the House of Representatives who didn't agree with the bills and constitutional amendments that have been passed lately.
read and believe -- that's all I have to say.

Godless America Indeed!
You seem to still think us far right wingers have an agenda. Westwend, get up close to your screen and I will whisper our agenda to you, okay? We are only against having our freedom of religion being taken from us. Yous ask, "What is being taken away?" Many things are being taken away. What you claim to be afraid of is actually already known. You even have people on here that claim when we are in church, we are actually plotting to take over the world. Stop watching those late night science fiction movies please! The real world shows us that this nation is becoming a Godless America. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT! Some on here actually compare us to Sadam. This is an unbelievable statement. This comment is so silly that I refuse to answer why it is so ridiculous. This nation has many problems especially societal and some of us sit around and wonder why. Everytime we move further from God we suffer for it.

I guess we might need to
differentiate between "Christian Tyranny" and other kinds of tyranny. I kind of prefer the kind of tyranny Saddam Hussein used to dish out. Well....as long as you were on his side of the dishing!!

Sorry, West....confused myself by thinking I was in one of Witty Woman's Blogs. My mistake.

America the Godless?

Sorry to disagree, Wit, but that global view of America misses the mark by a wide margin. I'm sure you realize that--even as you wrote that world-view of the USA--millions upon millions...the vast majority of Americans were sitting in a church praying, singing and loving God. Remember, many people in the world see only the part of American culture that their own government wants them to see. I doubt that many Koreans or Japanese people, for example, share the sentiment that America is a Godless country since their governments tend to allow only wholesome American images to penetrate the media shield.

I wonder how these people would feel if they knew that America has been labelled "the godless country"?  I assume this is because of all the killing, fighting, war, etc., etc.  Will they ever 'click' to the fact that there is something inherently wrong when a country where the majority of people claim to be christian has a reputation like this?

I don't mean to get into it with anybody but I thought that...
one of the basics in a democracy was the separation of church and state.  Am I misunderstanding that?  I thought that religion should not interfere with the political system.

FORGET ABOUT THE WORD "CHRISTIANITY"
Much is done in the name of Christ, which I am sure grieves His heart.  The important thing is the "personal relationship" with God and you sound as if you have none, and that breaks my heart.

Westwend,

You speak of a "vocal minority", the truth of the matter is you are the vocal minority. I am Catholic, and must admit that I can't remember the last time I attended mass, however, I do not feel compelled by religous zealots to conform to christianity or any other religion. Most Americans share my viewpoint. I suspect you are an advocate of gay marriage as well, talk about a "vocal minority," gay marriage has overwhelmingly been rejected in nearly every state, yet a "vocal minority" perversely attempts to shove it down our throats.
