Unfortunately,
this country was founded as a Christian country, and that is a part of our history.  I am in no way associated with any other religion, unless it worships me (or Meatball Subs) of course.  Interesting argument though, however, I take no part on either side.

You are right on one of the biggest problems this country faces.

People tend to want freedom for themselves but want you to live as they do.

Solution is in EDUCATION

I definitelly agree for most part.  The problem is that our freedom of speech is not really honoured by most "democratic" societies as it is always a problem what borders are crossed and who may get offended.  But this is a problem!  If you don't know enough about certain religion or if something would not be an offence for you, how do you judge what would be a 2grave" offence to someone else.

Yup!

1. If a government is supported by God, then to question the governors is blasphemy, and we have a history of stoning blasphemers. Remember the Ahyatolla Ruholla Khomeini, and the divine kings of European history.

2. Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: You'll never know what the experiment would have done if you had not been there watching it.

3. I often quote/paraphrase my 12th grade Biology teacher, who found it vexing that some people (fundamentalist Christians) thought God so unsubtle as to be incapable of inventing something as cool as genetics, hence evolution.

We fashion our gods after ourselves. Hubris in extremis.
