Thanks, Red. Yes, that is pretty amazing.
I guess we all want to remain incognito in the hope of maintaining some level of control. Some of us are just control freaks.
I agree, the participants are very brave. One of the women on the show is there to learn how to mend broken relationships, another is the sibling of a famous celebrity who she feels has overshadowed her all of of her life, another is newly blind and learning to become independent, one participant is dealing with her feelings about being the other woman, one is overcoming being a part of a broken family and another is working to achieve independence as a single, young mother. I give them kudos for stepping inside of the Starting Over house.

tremacc - great post!
it is amazing how we want to remain incognito, is it not? I think the participants on the show are very brave. I know I couldn't enter the house on national TV. But, if you want to do it, then go for it! I think I'll just stick to blogging.

Thanks Wolf-Girl.
Yep. Those questions got my attention for sure. I definitely have issues with intimacy. I don't like to get too close.

excellent post!
Those are all great questions to ask, and it's important to really be open to the answers whether we like them or not. I think the Starting Over house would be great because there is a lot of support from qualified individuals, ie., the coach and therapist, etc. Go for it!

Hello Thomas.
I actually believe this show is on a much smaller scale than Survivor. My son jokes that I am probably the only person who watches it (that's his testosterone talking, lol).
But you do have a point.
I don't mind if the whole world knows what I look like--- as long as they don't about my problems and
I don't mind if the whole world knows about my problems, as long as they don't know what I look like.
This probably explains the mass appeal of blogging, I imagine...

I think that it would be a bold move. People on Survivor say it changed their lives. Now, do you really want the whole world to know what you look like plus all the problems they think you have?

Laroux, sometimes I too have considered not watching tv anymore.
Yes, the show definitely pushes the emotional buttons. It is the most non-boring, positive program that I have seen on the boob tube. The exercises that they come up with are sometimes wacky and unconventional, but always worth it. Yes, it would be wonderful to experience first hand.

I don't have TV now, but last year I was able to see the whole season. I laughed and cried right along with them. Every day at 10:00 I had an appointment with the TV and the couch. I think it would be a wonderful experience to go through first hand tremacc.

LOL. Whim.
One of the women in the house was there with previous batch of implants. I only know this because she invited some of her friends, former Starting Over graduates, to the house and the rest of the house mates were pretty thrown off by it because they didn't know these people.
The only conflict with staying in the Starting Over house that I have noticed is that one woman's husband is threatening divorce if she doesn't come home soon, so you have that to consider.

Just in case you are a slow learner, do they have a long term inpatient program?

LOL. Yeah, I hear ya. Maybe Jennifer sticks out in my head because she is the one that I can identify with most. I have felt like she does at times.

I am just catching up with this new group...
but yes I have found myself crying when there is a big breakthrough, like the woman who was searching for her birth father. Her story made me cry just about every darn episode. I am terrible with names though, I cannot seem to remember any of their names unless I am actually watching the tv, lol.

LOL. Me too. Guilty. I actually tape it.
But the thing about this particular reality show is that it is so positive, uplifting and inspirational, right? My son calls it
the sobbing women's show because the women get emotional and start to cry when they come to realizations about themselves through the exercises (and sometimes I do too. I love the breakthroughs that they are all making. It has effected me more than I thought a television program ever could. Yes, Josie has a big chip on her shoulder and lashes out at everyone a lot. That is probably why she has been there the longest. Sometimes I think that it's intentional so that she won't have to graduate. My heart goes out to Jennifer the most.

***guilty***...
It's my dirty little secret (everyone who knows me, knows I despise reality shows) but I watch this show whenever I can. The housemate with the flaming red hair was fascinating to watch in action but Josie I am having a hard time with. She is, I think the term is, such a drama queen. But I digress. I agree with you that the exercises that they do on that show are very informative. That would be so cool if you did that show. I have thought about doing it myself. They do seem very supportive of the women and it would be so nice to have that kind of positive coaching in my life.
