OK, let me help you with a few of these.  First, let's take a look at Sodom and Gomorrah.  So-dom is a play on the words King-dom and So-ciety.  So-dom.  In the So-dom, everybody said "So..." to everything, for instance, "Go-more-ahhhhh."  Gomorrah.  So dumb and Go more ah is an immorality issue at last addressed by God in an act of total destruction.  It's sort of like when your bathtub gets scum in the tile.  You don't give it a second thought, even if the scum is alive.  You eliminate it.

The bible is no different to any other collection of 'fairy stories'.  It has points to ponder, things we can learn from, but it shouldn't be taken as 'gospel' - indeed, it was never meant to be.  A great amount of it was written for the people of that time, it was never intended to be followed by subsequent generations.  If all the myth was stripped away, we would be left with very little, but perhaps what we would be left with would make more sense to everyong, atheists included.

The bible is Truth= Word of God=Love=Truth.
There are no myths in the Bible. Any "bibical" myths are man maid myths foolishly spewed to try to hide God's Truth. God's Truth lives ...forever and can never be hidden as He has written it upon our hearts. Bible 1 Purple Heart

Why not drop all the accounts of the supernatural all together?

Westwend -

Your last line said it all: Let go of the myth; forget the fable; drop the story and one will find "God".
