yep you're right
I remember back in 76 when a couple in my Episcopal Church came back from D.D. and raved about the National Cathedral -- I had a problem with that. -- it took almost a century and millions of dollars to build
better use of time and money and a better monument would be to "remember the poor" -- put forth effort to bring people out of poverty and "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" -- teach them to fish.
huge expensive edifices are sort of like gravestones -- big old rocks that fail to edify but serve rather to . . . you know -- can't think of the word
