Go to BUILDING A NEW RELIGION FROM THE GROUND UP

- Go to THE DEVIL IS A MYTH
The last bit sounds more like logic than religion. Of course, is every believe applied logic, nobody would believe at all. Religion defies all logic.

boy!, Aardvark!!!
What is religion?
Religion historically is separate from life. You live your regular life which is simply trying to live and survive and rear young, basically the stuff of all life -- then religion is a day or time or instance when you separate yourself from all that and contemplate or experience or whatever.
What do you experience? That varies. (of course)
religion is generally a system of preset values to which the believer adheres.
syllogism: all religions have values.
but do all value systems need religion?
it's like all lions are cats, but not all cats are lions

Some would argue that without the myths, religion simply becomes a course in ethics. Is that what you propose?

Well, I have been let back into the light, fellow WW, but I don't know for how long after my last posting. I think I know why I was let back in, but I mustn't give in to uncharitable thoughts.

original intent . . .
I have to remember you are in England, WW soulmate and partner in the outer darkness we are cast out into by one of our resident clerics, and, let's see -- it is -- here in st. louis it's 9:09 am. I tink there it is around 3 pm or maybe 4.
so you comment during the daytime. good.
original intent . . . hmmmmm.
original intent of the concept of the devil? -- to scare kids into being good.
original intent of this blog? -- to offer a new explanation.
original intent of this recent post? -- to offset a recent post on a blog on this same page.
I get tired of seeing and hearing the same old thing again and again.

What exactly was its "original intent"? I think maybe that's been lost somewhere along the line. I have to admit that I haven't a clue what it is.

A person
is capable of learning by consistent experience. We needn't try to disprove the obvious. The devil says, "I only love you for your boobs." Not nice at all.

According to some, only the "devil himself" would write a post like that. They will say you are living in denial!
