I've written loads of crap here...
and I don't worry about it much. I use Blogit as my "warm-up" before I sit down each day and write more seriously.  I try different voices here, different attitudes, even different personas.  It all helps me find that zone when I need to write what counts to me...that trance state that we go into when we write our fictions and the words seem to be falling at us from a place just beyond what we would contrive more consciously--does that make sense?  Real writers are compulsive about it and it doesn't matter much where and when and how...we just need to be writing all the time.  I even have a running narrative rambling about in my mind as I go about doing the quotidian, and I also dream so much of my fiction.  So it never stops, not even in sleep.

I'm not so happy with my old written stuff......

I just ran across a box of my stuff from High School! Ack! Talk about musty old writings. It was funny, and kind of sad. I have stories from back then that I'm still trying to tell right.

Insightful post....
Sometimes I wonder if anything I write will ever really be complete. I rewrite that much.

I absolutely will not send anything out unless I am thrilled with it
so a lot of stuff is sitting in folders on my desktop still. Sometimes even if I'm not happy, it will make someone else laugh aloud and long whcih is how I used to test run my humor cards - but if I don't laugh when I'm writing it - it ain't funny. I think I am too particular. Would probably be more solvent now if I just mailed the shit out!!!

This is very good. I never thought about that, though I don't think my
writing could be any better, as I write the best way I had learned. Wallaho Alam Bissawab.

Whim
Two good ideas there!  I have sometimes used parts of unpublished stuff to create something new, although it isn't something I do often because of the reason I gave - i.e., the enthusiasm isn't there.  More often I will use the original idea and expand on it, or perhaps approach it from another angle, sometimes as a serious piece rather than a humorous one.

I try not to delete or throw away work as it is a history of my progress, my state of mind, this part of my life.  I have also found I can incorporate something that didn't work originally into something else.  And, with my blogs, I often refer to them for links and research I may have done months ago.

I receive numerous humor submissions for my website.  Most get rejected for the same reason you mentioned.  The story may be good, but the ending just lays there.

Here is an idea for you.  Post a contest for your readers to come up with a new ending.  Could be interesting.
