I read all on this blog...and you have really made an excellent start...

Each poem was better than the last~so you are definitely doing something right!

To me, poetry is the expression of pure emotion.  A great poem rarely comes out in one stream for me.  It takes thoughtful energy, zeroing in on what I want to say, the core emotion that I want to convey, usually surrounded by an idea, a vision, a picture in my mind.  Sometimes it comes out in free verse, or a non-rhyming, non-metered poem that seems to flow; though it is certainly not easier to write than metered/rhyming poetry.  I always read my poems aloud, because poetry is not meant to be read silently, but spoken, a song of words that convey a feeling, image, emotion in a breath proclaimed out to the world's ears.

I'm never satisfied with my poems; I continue to revise, rework, reword, reread...it really is a passion.  None of them are finished, and even though I post them, none are complete, with very few exceptions.  I am never satisfied with my poems, even though so many seem to be....

Keep at it Quirk, you are a very talented writer, and expanding into poetry will even further hone your craft!
