Very interesting approach
We don't observe the Jewish Holy days, but we are aware of them.  I am only 1/8th Jewish. I remember my grandmother observing certain rituals, but more as a cultural thing, handed down from her natural mother.  I love that you have a literary take on the Bible because in all great literature, the messages are passed on subtly, through symbol and allusion.  And I have figured out why I love your writing style--it is like Whitman, I think.

Westwend -

I like your explanation. It does help to define why we treat people the way we do. It's part of our nature. And as I was reading your post, I kept waiting to see what happened to the Azazel. Unfortunately, we don't know.

Personally, I wear my "Azazel" badge with pride. I'm not one to follow the herd (though I will get sucked in sometimes).
